Rare to see any starship with such antenna-like arrays.

True, it is unique in Star Trek online also. According to STO the purpose of these starbase style comm relays is: “Examinations of captains' after-action reports revealed the need for a new type of starship to lead these teams. In response, a Starfleet Corps of Engineers team at the San Francisco Shipyards developed the Command Battlecruiser ships to act as a mobile command center. The Command Battlecruiser's advanced communications array can relay battle-critical information instantaneously and inspire allies to the best performance.”

I'm reminded of old Jackill's Hatfield Class Command Cruiser, where he sticks an Avenger-class frigate hull atop a tri-warped Enterprise Engineering Hell, and then replaces the frigate's port hangar bay with a direct-to-space heavy duty commo grid to assist in the class's explicit C&C duties.

Cool! I love Jackill's work, in fact i picked up his "Reference Manual Volume 2 - Ships of the Fleet" book from a local Half-Priced Books last weekend.

Oooh, yeah.
Jackill's work was the gold standard for pre-internet fan made Star Trek vessel catalogs. They were premium goods at any Trek convention. Yes the Ships Of The Star Fleet series was far more clinical and academic, the Jane's Fighting Ships of the fandom, but Jackill cranked out so many different classes, and pioneered the cutaway profile as a stock image for such works.

Yes, i loved the design history and the clinical work that he did on his creations plus he did a very detailed look at the federation sensor array from the first of the "The Motion Picture." amazing!

Very well designed, I love the look as well. check out my USS Warhammer design, (not the NSS Warhammer), my lineart drawing, I am still trying to get a good look. JBobrooney did it for me, and it looks great!

Thanks! I still jump on when new story content comes out or when I am in the mood to get new screenshots of my ship.

Verily, I say unto thee... VERY COOL.
I've always liked that nacelle arrangement. I think it makes a lot of sense for future Starfleet ships to sport that look.

I like it too! I also tweeted the STO designer about his thoughts on the ship’s warp engines. His idea was for two horizontal warp cores running along the upper spine of the ship.
My engineering design for the MSD is an over-and-under warp core configuration.

Very interesting. I'm not into STO. It looks extremely complicated. I've been invited to join the Trekyards Fleet if I ever DL STO for the PS4.
