Description The girl's name was Megan. She had lived most of her life in the mist-covered, coastal village of Port Oak, and in that time she had only made one major mistake. Sent out to get a pre-ordered pizza for her family, Megan was held up by a friend she rarely ever saw outside school. A quick 'hello' turned into a fifteen minute conversation, and Megan realized she was running late with a rapidly cooling pizza.

She had been told many times never to take a shortcut through West Alley, especially not at dusk, but the need to make up lost time and get the pizza home while it was still a little warm impeded Megan's judgment. The mists closed in nearly as soon as she entered the alley, it seemed a little longer than it should have been, and when she came out the other end, she didn't recognize what part of town she was in anymore.

Half an hour exploring failed to illuminate her, and fear began to rise when Megan discovered she could no longer find the exit to West Alley. The street signs didn't look familiar, some even seemed to be written in a different alphabet altogether. The people looked at her strangely, looked strange themselves. The one she worked up the will to ask for directions simply scuttled away, muttering something in a language Megan couldn't understand. She ate most of the pizza, it had long gone cold.

That had been a week ago. Since then, sleeping in parks and waking only to find the world stranger, more mist filled and claustrophobic than before, Megan grew increasingly desperate. It had been days since any human contact, so when she saw an upright figure in the mists ahead, she gave a joyful cry and ran towards it.

Then she noticed the thing's appendages did not move the way a human's should. She could have ran, but something told her by that time it was already too late, and she was already a prisoner of whatever this place had become.
