Description Presenting for your myriad pleasures the premiere product line for my newly officiated business, Aaron Rathbun Enterprises! Leather Tarot cases designed and customized to your specifications!

etc. etc. etc. sacred boxes, divine artifact-herilooms, yada yada yadda.

Y'know crazy as it sounds I don't like tooting my own horn - jokes and scandalous humour aside. Yes advertising has its legitimate place and blah blah blah for all the "getting the word out" about one's wares, but truth be told I'm an artisan at heart. I write seldom enough for myself and rarely esteem false flattery.

That's what I like about these - they speak for themselves. They look strong because they are strong. I use a heavy latigo because I want -no demand- the things I use to take the klutzy, daily abuse I put on them. Not only that but they're practical. They surround & protect what's kept in them while not being too ungainly to throw in a purse or backpack. Lastly they're embellish-able, and not just with graphics or laser-etched designs but with the unique medium of leather tooling that I find so engaging.

It's a tactile art with practical purpose. No silver-tonging about it. That's what they do.

And how much are you going to be selling these for / how does someone request specific designs?

Basic cases start around $100, laser etching adds $25 to the price, hand-carved originals start at $150 & go up, minor variances depending on size, have yet to figure out a fair price for other embellishments (belt straps, purse straps, custom sizes, special hardware), artist fees for custom use of original art (other artists, my own) determined on a piece-by-piece basis.

As far as production/availability goes, once I get the current batch of custom orders taken care of I'll go back to developing the other two product lines & building up stock for the show in August. I may throw a few pieces up on Etsy but my main aim is to have a website up and running tied to a Merchant's Account in time for BATS.

With the website I can have a custom-order form generated that'll take care of most personalization elements while providing examples of the more standardized products/product lines. This would allow not only visual aids & examples of the quality & nature of work that I do but provide a comprhensive, up-to-date, visual list of the customizable elements (colours, designs, accessories, etc) available for personalized orders.

Since Etsy encourages its community to vend primarilly already-made items this allows me greater liberty & convenience for controlling how my production time/energy/resources are distributed -- I don't have to build up a stock of nnnth of which only a small percentage may sell, rather a modest inventory with a representative range of the world of possibilities for shows & events. By standardizing the method of ordering & customization I establish a process of greater efficiency for which most of what I create has the assurance of salability.

For the time being if someone is interested in a commission they'll have to contact me directly.
