Instead he looked out the window. A person dressed in white from the white clog looking shoes to the white hat that almost looked like those worn by sailors fetched something further down in the garden closest to the house.
“You better stop that...and put the toy back on the shelf. Father won't be happy if he saw you with it. You should really be studying you know. He might check on you after dinner.”
A head, with brown ruffled hair and with redlined eyes, popped up behind the big stuffed toy. It was almost as big as the boy himself. “I don wanna have supper! Father, he...he...”
“Father won't like it if you speak like that. You can't say ‘don wanna’. It's bad. It sounds like you can't talk properly!” the older boy interrupted “And I'm sur

“Whoa! Whoaaa, Trixie!” Georgie caught herself taking help of her left hand as she drove the mare into the sliding stop. Bad habit! But she was doing better. It wasn't as often now. Still, it was technically a fault. She sat down deeper in the saddle and leaned back some further. This time the stop worked better. Or better. It was not like it would be highly graded, but it was better than the last round of the same program just some ten minutes prior. By now it was as good as dark and she hoped most of her program would be visible on the film. For Trixie it mattered little that they had done the program at least six times by now. Her ears were still pricked forward and she gaped slightly to get forward again. More! She wanted more speed! And cows! If it was ever possible? It hadn't been previously but a mare could always hope that one, just one would pop up.

Her rider glanced over to where the blinking red dot was. Trixie had sniffed the camera and then paid it little mind. Georgie let the mare have a little longer rein as she pressed her forward again. She didn't dare to compete like normal since it might mean exposure. But this was something new and she didn't even have to leave the yard. There was no way he would find her. She wasn't even sure he knew she had begun to train with ‘cowhorses’. There was still times when she froze in whatever she was doing when she saw a dark SUV with tinted windows, fully expecting a familiar face roll down the window, telling her to jump in - now. The first few times she had actually ducked behind cover - one of those times the cover was Mrs Robinsson. The older woman had looked at her, then at the car but she hadn't said anything - not yet anyway.

Things were going better, but she had to step away from joining lessons. That ate away too much of her savings - even if her helping out did help keeping the cost down. Instead she had looked at some free instructional videos online. It wasn't the same thing, but it was better than nothing, and it kept the mare from getting bored.

The night air was crisp and clear, and it felt nice to take in a big deep breath. Around here other lights than her camera were blinking. She had actually lured one of the insect males to her hand by using a small flashlight before she started this session, mimicking the reply of a female firefly. The horse had cared little over the humans ‘game’, but she had no other to show and tell. Maybe her friend, when he came back, would find it just as cool as she did. It was at least a more hands on thing than telling him about it from one of her books. Georgie sighed. There was so much she had to tell him. Things it felt like she only could tell him, because he was the one who understood her. He would surely try and defuse the situation with a joke but...Perhaps she needed one of his silly jokes told in person...or...just to sit in silence next to him...and not feel like she was alone in the world.
