King Magnus of Alveus has reigned for many years. When he came to the throne he was formidable indeed, the image of a vigorous and bold warrior king. He made the beautiful Caroline his queen, and lady from a neighbouring land. Their union led to a long period of peace and prosperity, and the birth of five children, four sons, Edward, Mattias, Calimus and Alexader the latter being twinned with a daughter Sofia. The dynasty's future seemed safe with the promising prince Edward waiting in the wings as heir apparent. But unforeseen events would throw the realm into confusion.
