Description I sure do hope you didn't think I am dead

This piece s quite old now. Was done originally for ImagineFX Issue 22. Currently, you can see it on the cover of Ballistic Publishing's Exotique 3.

The version you can see now is quite different from those published, as I have recently reworked this image a LOT.

Overall, it took many, many hours in Painter and Photoshop. I also used some references (especially for the fish and the sea).

A small walkthrough with some closeups, WIPs and sketches will be available on CGSociety soon. I will edit the description with a link once it's up

Hope you like it, as it feels quite personal to me

PS. Title's from the song "Summer Wind" by Frank Sinatra

Thanks a lot for letting me know I cannot even post a comment, bah. Could you please ask her in my name, to take the work down and in the future ask for permission for such use? I have never given her permission to edit my work like this, so it does tick me off a bit to be honest

Of Romance, Vice and Verse

In Africa are lions
Banana trees, there zebras trod
There's grass and sun and smiles
Giraffes their long necks nod

In Africa, my dear

Civilization all began
MathematiciansΒ
Fulfilled their wild ambitions
And calculated the orbit of the sun

There people loved and lied
Some happily, some sadly
They'd worked, they'd felt, they'd died,
From whom we moved on gladly

Into the metal age, to Facebook
Twitter, Google Chrome and Flash
Mozilla Firefox and Java
A pseudo-technological gold rush

In Africa are lions
And in our lives β€”Β no change
Like Aztecs and the Mayans
We hunger power

We're strange

A Ninja Master told me,
"Expect the unexpected"
And I had tried my best
To honor and accept it:

In Africa are lions,
On seashores there are waves

Some beautiful women

Still set men's hearts ablaze

So please relax, my friend, relax
It's going to be alright
For our time is our chance

To workΒ

To feel

To fight

How editing works is you just cut everything that's in the way.
