While we have a bunch of alligators in the US, we only have crocs in one tiny portion of Florida (western Everglades) with occasional strays like this one in other parts of south Florida. Also, the crocs and gators in the US are the least aggressive of any crocodilian species.Β  We have fatal gator attacks, but mostly very old and very young people (and pets).Β  There has never been a fatal croc attack in the US (but mostly because they usually don't live near people).

In Australia, all the wildlife seems deadly . . .

Are those crocs freshwater? We have freshwater crocs, and I don't think they have ever killed anyone either. The lethal crocs here are the saltwater one's. They are everywhere now because, unlike days gone by, they wont' allow culling of any kind. Seems they are more important than people nowadays. While I have a great respect for the environment and the wildlife that lives there, I think that's a bit ridiculous around cities and towns. They cull just about everything else! Most of the people that support the non-culling of crocs seem to be from down South where there aren't any!

We do have quite a few deadly creatures around this large continent, however, most people never see them. I've seen some snakes and a few red back spiders (the spiders all at the same time as they'd set up house under one of the outdoor chairs).Β A quick spray got rid of them We live on a tropical island in the north and, cross fingers, don't seem to have any problems. We have lots of Koalas, and rock wallabies which trend not to be dangerous , and we have the Great Barrier Reef just off the coast, so it kind of makes up for any small disadvantages

They can live in fresh or salt, but prefer salt or brackish water.Β

Sounds like an awesome place! I'd love to visit someday

It is a beautiful place. I'm originally from the cold North East of England - (which also has some beautiful but different scenery), so I really appreciate the climate and environment here
