Recently saw The Black Cauldron when it was playing at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood. Such a treat to see that classic animation in full cinematic glory. Here's a little take on Eilonwy. Seriously love this character. Disney princesses can seem a little too caricatured, with their big eyes and such; which has the simultaneous effect of either enhancing or detracting from their appeal, depending on the viewer. I exaggerated Eilonwy's eyes here quite a bit, but in the film it's the perfect balance between appeal and caricature, making for one exquisite princess. The movie is a little clunky, but its charms far outweigh its faults, and it's good to see Disney giving it some much-needed love.
