Description This was my entry for the 2008 Fan Art Calendar - it did not make it in the actual calendar, but I'm happy either ways because it gave me a chance to draw Sunstream and Brill ^^

(The full calendar can be found here - [link] )

Let me tell you, it was very difficult to pick a "favorite moment" out of so many beautiful Sunstream & Brill scenes in "Discovery". But in the end I chose their final swim together, with Sunstream in his WaveDancer shape, because I think it reflects perfectly their joy and the deep, ecstatic love they feel toward each other. *_*

This picture is important for me in many way. I think I've managed to capture what I see in Sunstream and Brill, the reasons that make them my all time favorite Elfquest lovers. On a sidenote it was also a challenge, because I wanted to see for myself if I could draw Sunstream in his WaveDancer shape (yup, I had tried to draw him last year too, in my 2007 Calendar Entry "When a Child is Born", but for some reason I was not happy with the way he turned out). I think after one gets used to it - to the spines and the bright colors alike - he looks kinda majestic...

Never I have worked so hard on a picture - and the amount of sketches on my desk proves it, I guess *snickers*. But as I said, I'm happy, because Sunstream and Brill mean a lot to me and this was my way of paying them tribute. Hence the high resolution of the image, because they deserve no less.

I hope you'll like this work of mine nearly as much as I loved drawing it ^_^

Edit: I forgot the credits! A special thanks to Wendy Pini, for the spell-binding story "The Discovery", and to Steve Blevins for first drawing Brill as we know her

Beautiful!! And the details... wow! I would never EVER have the patience to draw the Sunstream- fishy. You've captured them both beautifully

lol thanks so much ^^ And Sunstream's fish-form was an absolute nightmare to draw (though coloring him turned out to be fun... such a rich palette *snickers*)
Glad you think I've done them justice, I really did try hard

My question though, Why did he choose such a form?
Whhhy?
If there is a reason, other than "he wanted to impress the wavedancers" I'd Love to know

Anywho, for such a complicated figure, you've captured him quite beautifully.
Nice Job

Beautiful!

I still don't know how I feel about Sunstream's shapechanged form but you did an amazing job with it, it looks so canon! I just think it's so fascinating to look at it being all smooth and then to look at the full view and see all the different 'aintstrokes' (in a way), you have a very interesting technique! Oh and I have to say that Brill is so pretty here!

Thanks! I'm happy you like the way it turned out! ^^
And yup, it took ages to get Sunstream right. The crest particularly required lots of work - it always turned out to be quite flat no matter how hard I tried to give it perspective. Ah well glad it worked out in the end though

Thanks so much!! ^^ Yup, it did take a lot of work, but it was worth it (plus I actually got to draw a decent water background! Woohooo! ^_^)
