I'm not sure what the source models are, but I've had some real issues with displacement maps. You should also check normal maps, since some models have weir issues as well.

Not sure why displacement and normal maps would have anything to do with the 3D printing process- they impact on raytracing in render engines so they shouldn't have any impact on the outcome of a printed model.
Were yours done by GamePrint?

My model was done by GamePrint, and I raised this issue before they took the order. They still messed it up. (It was on sale, so I'm not mad or anything.)
Displacement and Normal Maps do affect 3d Models. They do alter the geometries, and not just the surface for lighting/rendering. If you look at the first image in that gallery, it shows a close up picture of the shoulder armor. If you look at the first render, with grey shoulder armor, you can see that the displacement maps had been inverted.
The way you have to think of this, is that they are 'rendering' an image with a different and incompatible engine. There may be mistakes in the translation. I use mostly Octane, and previously Reality, so I've bumped into this issue many times before.

Tough choice. The one on the right shows her competence, while the one on the left emphasizes her innocence. A fantastic character that is so versatile, happy birthday to her.

Armor! All the way! While the other is nice and offers a softer side. Her delicate features and skin tone are a little lost with the soft pastel colors in my opinion. She's absolutely stunning!

The costume that landed you with your first ever Daily Deviation would be perfect!! Kind of an honor.

Definitely a hard choice, but I'm going to have to vote for the one on the right. And those renders are fantastic, when I first saw it I thought you had decided to get both and was wondering how they got them done that quickly

I prefer the original costume. It's less intimidating. That being said, I think a darker tint on the blue and a necklace to match would be well received.

Anywhere between £200 and £400. Depends on the size and finish that you go for.

That's amazing. Not a bad price at all. And they do it just from CG renders? Are you a CG character modeler?

I do model but nothing organic yet. I'm much better with textures!
Yes, you send them the OBJ and then they handpaint it from a reference image.

Both are outstanding but I'd choose the one of the right because I'm guessing that outfit leaves some booty on display.

Two are beautiful, but I prefer the right one, the pose is more dynamic and dress more appealing (all this is personal of course)
