Description
This is a botanical space station I've made in Blender.
The primary concept behind this design is to create a space station that is almost ready for launch. The habitat modules take inspiration from inflatable designs proposed by Bigelow Aerospace and Sierra Space, allowing them to be folded and conveniently fit into SpaceX's Starship payload bay at 8x8m dimensions. The metal service modules, though rigid, are compact enough for efficient transport. Even the botanical domes can be folded into 4-8 pieces of similar size.
In total, approximately 100 launches would be necessary to deploy the entire structure into orbit. With advancements in reusable launch platforms, this idea may soon become a reality.
The rotating dome structure has a diameter of 90 meters, requiring a rotational velocity of 3 rpm. This aligns with the concept by Wernher von Braun and Willy Ley during the 1950s.
