Very nice review! I have the book as well and it has quickly become one of my favorites. Has a wonderful mixture of character/background/creature studies. It was especially interesting to see how they used an actual cake (and other candies) to gain a better understanding of how the candy world would appear.
Also, thank you for the links to the artists' blogs! Can't wait to see more of their works.

Thanks for checking out the post! It is a great concept book and I found all their studies that they included so interesting and appealing!

No problem. Was a very well written article indeed. I'd love to see more of those sort of reviews. I really enjoy collecting art books, but want to make sure they're worth the money first. Reviews like yours are really helpful in determining that. Thanks once again and keep up the great work!

Do you have any favorites out of your collection that you think I should check out?

Hmm...good question. So many artists/artworks I admire in them, it's a bit hard to choose. haha! I'd have to say some of my favorites are: "Monster Hunter Illustrations" (gorgeous weapon/armor/dragon art), "The Art of District 9" (I adore the Weta artists work), "Animals Real and Imagined" by Teryll Whitlatch, "The Art of Paul Bonner" (fantastic fantasy artist). Also, all of the Spectrum and Massive Black books have impressive work in them too.
How about yourself? Have any recommendations I should look at?

We have "Animals Real and imagined" here at the office and it's great. Massive Black books are amazing as well. I personally love the Final Fantasy I - XIV books I just received from Japan because I love Tetsuya Nomura's concept work. The Rise of the Guardians had a great concept work book and the Tekkonkinkreet book was fantastic for environments!

Ah yes! Nomura's work is really lovely and quite a recognizable style. Especially love his work on Dissidia and Kingdom Hearts. I have honestly never heard of Tekkonkinkreet. Will definitely need to look it up. Not sure if I mentioned before, but Darksiders also has some really lovely comic-book styled art work.
Thank you once again for the suggestions! If you happen to come across anymore books you find interesting, please let me know. I'm always on the look out for new and inspiring art books.
