Scanners be damned... Always wash out colour... It's like a damn art just to scan images right. XD

Scanning and editing the colours to match the real thing is an art form in itself... I'm not surprised the reflective surfaces didn't scan too well, but I would have expected them to show up as yellow, not near-black :'D

I had a scanner that would split whatever it scanned into multiple files, if it could not recognize a coherent image.
As a result I got a loads of images of legs, wings etc...

oh my god no.... just scanning an A3 with A4 scanner is enough work, let alone piecing together multiple filesΒ Β
My current scanner has a bit of an issue with cyan and ends up with warmer blues but that can be adjusted... one of the earlier ones messed up both yellows and blues so it was near impossible to get right xD

Well, my life did away with that atrocity:
I no lnger have any scanner so I only can take photos. And my only camera is my 3DS XD
Together with the magic of "crtl+z" you have right there the reason why I apart from practice sketches work only digitally.
