When you catch steel wool on fire and spin it, it sparks like that. I used a 30 second exposure and have a Nikon D3100.

It can catch stuff on fire so you have to be careful where you're doing it. Don't do it inside of course or in a dry field kinda thing. Other then that I'd suggest wearing a hat or something with a hood cause the sparks can land on you and burn. Just be careful
