This painting was created to raise awareness for the bumblebee species Bombus dahlbomii, also known as Moscardón.
Native to South America, B. dahlbomii is an important to local ecosystems, notable for pollinating plant species such as the Chilean bellflower and peruvian lily. It is notable for its striking red-orange color and remarkable size, being one of the largest species of bumblebees. Unfortunately its population has been declining due to the introduction of European bumblebee species that brought over harmful pathogens.
B. dahlbomii is now categorized as endangered and faces the possibility of extinction within the next few years.

No matter how much time or money you give to spread awareness for this species, it will count tremendously. If bees teach us anything, it's that even the tiniest contributions matter- whether it be that of one person among billions, or the efforts of a tiny, tireless pollinator.
