Description I did a few of the girls make-up at a promo shoot for a local roller derby team called The D'viants. The theme was ZombieMisfitsPunk and the idea was for it to look as rough and ragged as possible. So the make-up is meant to be messy, which is always hard for me as I'm such a neat freak. We didn't have too much time per make-up so that actually helped!

I had a lot of fun at this shoot. Hope you like!

Hey thanks muchly. Kinda messy rushed job really, had less than 20mins for each. But you're right, roller derby shots are just too cool not to post!

Really? Thats kind of crappy that you only had 20 mins a face.
I remember I did zombie makeup for my friends project and I had about the same time.

Yeah, would've loved at least 30-40mins to add more details but it was fun nonetheless. Zombie make-up requires a lot of shading and details if you're including wounds and gore and ripped flesh, takes an hr at the very least! A lot of people don't fully understand the time factor involved in detailed make-up, this guy once asked me to make him an Orc which is a huge job with prosthetics and the lot, he wanted it done in like 5 minutes and only offered to pay $35... tool!!

WOW. That man was wrong. It could never take five minutes. Making someone into an ORC is like HUGE. I dont think I could ever do it, well unless I had the right stuff, then maybe.
Yeah it takes so long for me to do zombie makeup usually. But since I like only had 10 mins on a face I pretty much did the same thing to each person, which was one open wound located somewhere on their face.
And I totally didnt get paid for it, but it was fun.
: D

Like I said, people have no idea about the skills involved in make-up sometimes. Even the MUA's working on the LOTRs set took 4-6 hours to do that Orc and Uruk-Hai make-up... like check it [link] ... silly boy. You could do it no probs, even I would need to be shown how the 1st time. 10 mins for the whole Zombie effect *Pfft*.. make-up base and powder takes 5 mins in its own right.

Thats true it does take along time,
but I only had 10 minutes so I did what I could.
And yeah I suppose. I would love to learn
that though, how to do mad crazy effects like LOTR stuff.

SPFX courses are real expensive. I've put my name down at a few of the film schools in Sydney to do any type of make-up. Students can't pay but it's a good way to get some practice and film set experience in general. You should so do that.
