That's a very good picture. Thanks for posting it. I have a couple of different jackets along with the colorful scarf, but I'm also looking for the Burgundy coat and scarf to to use for the Season eighteen costume which is one of my favorites.

Is that scarf actually, authentically 14 feet long?

Well, you ignited my curiosity, so I measured it. It actually is about 3.9 meters / 12.8 feet long, which is fortunate since I'm not as tall as Tom Baker. Not that it's that big of a difference, really.
The general consensus from what I've found, is that there really is no "authentic" scarf anyway, since there were many scarves used in the show. This included a considerably shorter "stunt scarf" for action sequences, and the overall length varied from season to season anyway, as did the pattern and the colouration. According to a website it ranged from 10.5 to 20 feet across seasons, but I think the first one they used *was* indeed 14 feet long, so props there.

Well, it depends on how you define "inconvenient". It *can* be used to trip your enemies and reach things that are far away after all!
