omg. This is amazing. Might I ask, what do you do with this? Was this a request, or do you have it for decoration?

Yes, I've replied today. I don't generally do work related things over weekends.

Good lord, that looks just like the actor! I think this looks even more real than some of the wax figures of celebrities! This is crazy... It makes me wonder when we'll have 3D animation technology that can replicate people like this. Modern-day 3D is certainly pretty, but even in films like Avatar, I could still tell that the creatures were 3D animation. There was no chance for my eye to be fooled, like there would be with this! Absolutely incredible job, I can't imagine how much work went into this!

I'm not a big fan of cg, as most of the time it doesn't look "physical". I can count on one hand, probably two, the amount of creatures that have convinced me being physical and not graphics. Rendering and movement are rarely dead convincing.
Saying that, I might've well missed a lot of quick shots with cg creatures
But for every bad cg creature or person, there is an equal made physically Not so much these days, I grant you.
I didn't like Avatar myself. A number of reasons, the amount of cgi was only partly to blame. Didn't like the overall look or designs, and the story was very derivative.
Cg is best when you don't notice it, like models, set extensions, effects and subtley and convincingly done creatures/people. Not in your face and over the top!

God and the Devil are in the subtle details. You know you are in a class of your own, you define professional. Do you teach your craft? Maybe educational videos are an easy second and residual income you can enjoy that could enable you to take your passion to the next level...what that may be blows my mind...what do you "do" with your work, where do they end up living?? Are you in special effects? How did you get going, how did you choose your element, did it choose you?? My curiosity is endless here...A word on Aragorn: HOLYCRAP!!! Are you a hairtransplact specialist on the side??? How did you het the part that "right"?????

Thanks for the kind words. But there are many many great artists....you've just not heard of. I'm not at the top of the pile looking down by any stretch of the imagination.
No, I don't teach. I wouldn't have the patience I think [although I have helped some who have the same passion]. And I am too busy trying to knock out as much stuff as I can myself. I'm about 50% to where I want to be, work and ability wise.
There are a great many DVD's and videos, books, manuals, websites now, that were not around in my early days. Almost all the information you could want...you've just got to put the effort in and seek it out. Never been easier, just just got to have the dedication.
People pay me, I make things for them I also do my own work - the avenues I want to get into/sell work of. A lot of this isn't public as yet.
Nope, I don't work in special effects. That was the idea many years ago.....there are enough people working in that field already without another joining the crowd.
This is like a life story .
I've always draws since I can remember. About 16/17 i started making models and sculpting a bit, the bug totally bit and I stopped drawing/painting dead to work in 3D.
Fast forward 25 years working on things almost every day of my life.
As for his hair - that was inserted using felting and customised beading needles. It takes about a week inserting his hair.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, It is much appreciated. This site is a great muse, like daily bread of sorts, so glad to have discovered it. There were some links on Facebook to some incredible images, that kept pointing this way, but it turns out they were just scratching the surface...the interaction with like minded passionate souls is the best part.
Never heard of felting needles... Fascinating...I do some beadwork.. I can certainly believe the hair took a week. It looks like you used the real stuff?
I believe that artists should always surround themselves with other artists to grow and help others do the same. I see in less than a week, that is truly what happens here. It seems like artists are the only kind of people that "get it"- that life isn't just a rat race, but they don't wear signs around their necks, so are difficult to identify, but not here. It can be so terrifying to allow the world the window into yourself with your work, you don't know how people will react. My dearest friends are all artists, we feed each other with understanding and encouragement, without judgement. I am nagging them to join
I have also found myself moving away from 2D to 3- it makes more sense to me, and I also lack the patience to coax a third dimension out of two.
When I saw your work, I heard This..

There are some amazing images set to this music.. Some day I will attempt Arwen on horseback...until then, may there always be angels to watch over you...
