England is lost. Scotland's only hope is to leave the UK and secure their borders against the mussies.

One of the mainstays of Scottish independence is that Scotland wants to stay in the EU.

Absolutley, we and England have cultures that are too different in order to healthily live under one flag, many people try to scare us by saying we have no future, while we have big potential economies like Oil, Fishing, Shipbuilding and even Videogames

You know I've supported independence for Scotland for a long time but this is the first time I've thought to search it on DA! Glad I did!Β
I will be voting YES a week on Thursday. Shame you won't get a chance to vote on the day (since you are too young >_<)

I'm with you. I may not be Scottish born, but I surely do have a lot of Scottish in the family, mainly consisting of a certain border Clan allied to the Armstrong Clan. I'd vote yes if I could, the referendum's in 38 days.

I'm sure English people are no more ignorant of the distinct culture and history of Scotland than Scots are of the distinct culture and history of Yorkshire, both of whom have a similar population. Perhaps if Scotland didn't pretend to be England's equal or competitor then the Union would be more harmonious. The Welsh for example don't have an England-shaped chip on their shoulder, and as a result their place in the Union is as cemented as England's.

Nope, I am not for independence, we would lose too much from moving away from the rest of the UK, and Alex Salmond is a big fat liar not to be trusted. Plus, I would feel more isolated from my English relatives, and if we go independent, I would feel really out of place when i'm visiting them ;-;
And I am proud to be Scottish, but I really don't want to be a part of an independent Scotland... So please don't say I'm not Scottish because I am anti-independance.
Of course, you can have your own opinion on this, but I just wanted to say mine (:

Who said that?
No, but the Yes campain pretty much tells the No voters that we aren't Scottish for voting no, and we are "traitors", and they lie and scare people into voting yes!
I've already voted so there's no point in trying to change my mind, sorry :/

Totally agree with this~ Scotland should be an independent country.
England take almost all the good things, like if someone's amazing at sport and is from Scotland if he/she loses they say they're Scottish. While if they win they say they're British. English also give us taxes that we already cannot handle. Even the BBC and other 'UK' TV shows base pretty much everything in England then if we put a TV show there based in Scotland they refuse it.Β
I am totally voting independenceΒ

I wouldn't go with that idea or otherwise we'll risk having the British UK ruined and under economic collapse. I also believe that both Scotland and England should benefit from the union rather than have only one of them being given the credit.

Well as i like to say "If we can kick ancient Rome's arse and get away with it and then kick England's arse more times than i care to count then i think that we will manage just fine on our own!" We make loads of money from tourism, oil, Whisky, Farming etc. We have a relatively small population and i think that we have been seen as "one of England's colonies" ever since we became part of the union. 2014 Will be an amazing year and i think that Scotland is definitely changing for the better!

I'm anti-independence as I think the UK works well together, but I'm all for Scotland having its identity. My father is Scottish, and even he agrees with me Scotland wouldn't work at all well by itself. Most of the things Scotland enjoys that the English do not can only be enjoyed because they're part of the UK.
And nobody ever sees Wales complaining, haha; if only people could get over their petty feuds, the UK is a truly wonderful force. Individually? Nah, none of the countries stand a chance.

I love the stamp. I think we could be independant. As long as we became a neutral country in war like Switzerland. Because if we were to become independant and not let the remainder of the UK have some oil Westminister would be like well fine but we're talking back all the weapons, ect. If we were neutral we would not have to possibly face that problem.
I'm incredibly proud to be Scottish. Scotland is one of the most patriotic countries in the world. I would even say the most.
Do you know what angers me? I was watching a vlog on Youtube. From a vlogger in England and he was having a competition. The winner would get a ton of English stuff like sweets and stuff you don't get outside of the UK really. And he said you could also win some English candy bars. He held up a Wham bar. The most Scottish sweet you can get.
And another thing. Scottish currency. Now we have some pretty money. You know it's all new and colourful. Go to England and they won't even accept it. So I think that if shops in England refuse to accept Scottish bank notes even though it's legal tender. Why should we accept theirs?
I know that this comment is a little random. But I thought I would get across what I think. And I know it's pretty biased. But I don't hate the English. They're nice people. I just wish we would maybe get more respect as a country from them.

I completely agree with you, Scotland would do fine on it's own, we don't need to be attatched to any other countries, we would manage fine. I love being Scottish, but I would love it more if we were independant.

I live in England but I admit, I get really annoyed when people refer to England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland (Usually they forget that it's only Northern Ireland)as UK and simply assume that we're exactly the same.
I have Welsh on one side of my family and when I go to visit my Grandparents in their home I still hear the amazing Welsh language, it makes me sad that it's dying out. The same with Scotland when I visit my Grandfather, I hear less and less Gaelic being used in favor of English and even less of the lallans language.
Lol, I don't know much about football, I hate the sport in England, Scotland and anywhere else but I do love the tradition cultures of these countries and find it sad that they're used less and less.
I'm torn between which would be better. The UK staying as it is or the UK dividing. Having lived here all my life I think it would be a good idea for Scotland to break away from England while it still has it's identity. This country is going to hell. But as someone coming from different backgrounds I'm also painfully aware of just how many people in England are actually Scottish, Welsh or Irish, either in full or in part and if the country divided it might also divide families.
I can't forget the unpleasantness in Ireland which still lingers today. Not just over religion.
While the countries are all very unique, it's also true that over the centuries our cultures and people have mixed irreversibly and dividing them might be harder than we think.
I do believe that Scotland should have it's own political powers though and shouldn't be tied purely to the English Prime Minister.

I (being half Welsh and the other half mostly English) think the UK should take pride in being linked and all that but instead you only get people making fun of the countries, like I found a facebook group the other day called 'Wales is only renting a part of England and is not really a country' I mean come on D: what do people have against each other these days.
I don't blame Scotland for wanting to go independent.

Yes the amount of money invested in football is extremely stupid and I agree that football should just be about the good game as most countries see it. And yes probably little or none of the Olympic are going to be held in Wales, Scotland and Ireland which will be quite a shame for Olympic fans and athletes of those countries without the money to travel.
It also annoys me to no end when foreign people say Britain or the UK and are only referring to England. [Also the British accent thing annoys me but that's a different subject XD]
