Another piece for my story, The Birth of a Secret [link] . Really proud of this oneThis is a family portrait of the Mediterranean family, who in the story is a family business that rivals with the Asian family. Romulus Vargas (Rome) is the current head, his wife is Athena Karpusi (Ancient Greece), and his sons are: Heracles Karpusi (Greece), the eldest and heir to the business, Lovino Vargas (Romano), and Feliciano Vargas (Italy).
I do think Greece is related to Rome in the actual Hetalia storyline. I used to think he could possibly be Italy and Romano's dad, but it didn't seem likely since Greece is only physically a couple years older than the two. After learning about it in AP World History, I think its a huge possibility the Byzantine Empire is their father (or mother, if Himaruya makes Byzantine a girl.......that is if he ever actually makes a Byzantine character
). But I didn't know about the Byzantine Empire when I started this story, so I made Rome their dad, even though I don't really like it when people do that in fanfiction, but whateves 
And Ancient Greece, I imagine her to have a personality like Hungary's (but more laid back): Tough and independent, but also has a feminine and cheerful side.
Anyways, I hope you guys like it!

But isn't N. Italy the heir? I mean, in the anime it was pretty obvious that Rome chose him as his heir, being his favorite and all. Greece goes too much to his mother's history, and in reality Greece often refuses roman heritage.

You're right about N. Italy being Rome's heir in the anime, but in my fanfiction that this piece is based on the Hetalia characters are human in an AU, where the oldest child (Greece in the story) becomes the head of their family, even if he/she doesn't have much interest in it or isn't the best leader. Fem!Japan in my story is shy, quiet and quite sheltered but she's the heir to her family since she's the oldest of her siblings.

Personally I think that when Rome was split into the Eastern and Western halves, the East half that came from him (somehow) became the Byzantine Empire. Idk hahah

Well, maybe the Byzantine Empire was Rome and Ancient Greece's son/daughter, since Byzantium did have a lot of Mediterranean influences. Plus, Italy was part of the Byzantine Empire and if Byzantium was Rome's child, wouldn't it make sense that Byzantium could be the Italy brother's father/mother?

That just made so much sense. Considering that if Rome was Italy's 'grandafther' then Italy might as well have Byzantium be his parent
Now I wonder how that would work if Italy lived with Rome before Byzantium existed, though O.o

Well, maybe Italy was already born when Byzantium was still only the eastern half of the Roman Empire and not Byzantium. I mean, the land of Byzantium and Italy existed during the Roman Empire, they just weren't known as Byzantium or Italy.
