Thanks for the critique, I'm glad you think like you do, that the picture is imbalanced and that the trees are trying to escape. As for the rule of thirds, it is a guideline, not a rule. If every photo was structured like this and composed to this rule, every photo would look the same, it would be boring. I try and add life to my images by interesting compositions of peculiar and normal objects most of the time, so when you see that the trees are trying to escape, that makes me happy because you have seen something you wouldn't normally have seen, you see life and a slight story in the photo. Besides, I couldn't, nor wouldn't have taken this to the rule of thirds as it would have been impossible in this format, as I live in the city and landscapes are far few. There are always so many distractions in the images, and I believe in simplicity. Can I just ask why you think technique is so low?

i think technique was low because of the rule of thirds. i know its called a rule but yes i agree with you that it shoudl be a guideline. however although its a guideline in some cases i think it can certainly help rather than hinder an image. for me personally when i am viewing a photo i prefer it if my eyes stay within the photo - if a photo leads my eyes outside of the frame most of the time i feel that is something lacking in the photo itself. the trees are quite a strong aspect of the photo and i would have personally preferred them to be closer to the left third. i appreciate though what you said about distractions so im guessing there was something to the left which would have made it difficult to reframe it.
