Description
Suprise! Although their place within the timeline is still being worked on, I've decided to draw four more sapient aliens for my Project A worldbuilding. While they may (or may not) show up in the Ascendancy War timeline, they still exist within the Project A universe regardless. This particular species is actually a fairly old design, but I've only gotten around of actually drawing it recently. Hope you guys like.

Basic Description:
The Ulkari are a tall, very vaguely-mammalian, semi-insectoid species with a unique overall appearance and internal anatomy. The species has an upright bodyform with a large dome-like head, a pair of powerful wings, eight stocky tentacle-like legs, and four small arms protruding from the sides of their bulbous chest. Their backs, wings, head, and legs are covered in a thick layer of water repellant feather-like hairs, while their body and arms are covered in a much thinner, more fur-like fuzz. Each of an Ulkari’s hands are small with four thick, yet surprisingly dexterous fingers, while their feet have no toes at all, instead being large and circular; vaguely reminiscent of the tube-feet found in echinoderms. The head of the organism is characterized by a large cyclopean eye and a small mouth rimmed with numerous finger-like spurs, which merely serve as an outer protective structure, as the Ulkari’s true mouth is a long retractable proboscis. Unsurprisingly, the Ulkari are a liquiverous species, relying on their proboscis to feed on both animal and plant-based fluids. While relatively genetically diverse, very few of these traits show up as external phenotypes, so telling individuals apart from one another can be somewhat difficult, especially for other species. Ulkari outer-fur is always some shade of black or ebony brown, with no patterning or colorful hues; their skin is the same way, being a light stormy-grey. Ulkari eye color is a little more diverse, being some shade of green, blue, or orange, with silver being an uncommon but not terribly rare trait; their eyes can also be a blend of two different colors, though this is exceptionally rare. Subtle differences in the depth and pitch of their voices can also set individuals apart, as well as the color of their chest fuzz, which may have grayish, brownish, or rusty hues. The Ulkari are a sequentially hermaphroditic species, going through many stages throughout their lives where only the male or female parts of their reproductive organs are active, with a single, brief time near the end of their lives where both aspects of their dual anatomy are active. They give live-birth to one offspring at a time. To support their somewhat lightweight bodies, the Ulkari rely on a multitude of adaptations: a centrally aligned ossified spinal column, a network of tough muscles and connective tissue, and a thin subdermal layer of chitinous plates; a unique setup unseen in other sapient species. Although they have wings, the Ulkari do not normally use them for flight, and instead wrap these wings around themselves to keep warm and dry. Despite being relatively lightweight for their size, only young Ulkari and the most athletic individuals are capable of sustained flight. As they are sapient organisms, the Ulkari have a wide range of personalities and cognitive variations, though most tend to display commonly introverted traits, being quiet, slow, thoughtful, and not particularly social, even amongst their own kind. Along with their towering forms and relative lack of facial features aside from a single giant eye, the Ulkari are widely considered by most other species as somewhat… spooky, or unsettling.
