i know very less about the techniques and originality due to my background with art, in general, so excuse me if i speak of something that's not true.
first of all, is this a self-portrait? semi?
i especially like the color of the smoke, one end colorful, bright and the other end mystic and even dark, and within everything in between which is what art is to me, and how art is not only coming out of her but turning into her, and i would say even possessing her, in a good way though art can go both ways.
the concept is very original but the image on paper, the quite literal piece, i feel it's been used before(girl partly turning/making smoke), without the paragraphs under the description, i would definitely look at this piece in an entirely different way, and conceptual art should explain itself.
i do very much enjoy your style and how it's not photo-realistic and that makes the mood of this piece more dream like, but i also do wonder how this piece would look if the girl was realistically painted with the smoke unrealistically painted, and maybe within the contrast of the two would make a different impact?
i hope this critique has helped and um reply so i know if i'm doing anything wrong or right.

The painting, masterfully done, exploits an interesting feeling: art is a beautiful thing, but delving into it to the point where you depend on it to free your mind and turn it into your only purpose in life will get you addicted to it, and when it's taken away from you, you're left empty and purposeless.
What I love about this one is how the different techniques blend with each other. The crisp lines from the face are transposed somehow in the "threads" from the smoke, that form the skeleton of a blurry, chaotic cloud.
One suggestion would be to do something with the background too. It being white does emphasise the main element, but I feel that it would be more appropriate to add something to the background too, because the whimsical, entropic smoke doesn't need too much attention to be valuable.
All in all, a powerful painting, worthy of a favourite and a trip to the author's page e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Wink)"/>

Every time I see one of your watercolor pieces, I'm just blown away. It's hard for me to type up a proper critique because I'm just so, so speechless.
I just can't even describe it. The colors are so brilliant and the technique used for the smoke is simply stunning. The drips and the splatter, to me, add a sense of...I want to say, chaos, or losing control. Reading the artist comments and looking back at this artwork, I do get the feeling that the girl behind the cloud is trapped. The work on her face is just simply gorgeous in itself, I love how there are some different [albiet faint] colors in her skin, and her hair and the way it drips down the page really adds to the piece.
I also really like your idea of art being similar to a drug. To some people, yes, it can be very addicting, but it's the most harmless addiction I can think of. And I know I treat art as somewhat therapeutic, and I do see what you mean by, "not being able to do anything else," because sometimes art is all you really know, if you do it enough times.
and that's my best critique.

This thing called art, is stupendously amazing.
I love the flow of the dark-blue hues, to the vast colour patterns as, I would assume, smoke, rises. It gives this evolutionary feel or transcendence of sadness, to hope.
As my eyes follow the colour, there pops this face! It's interesting. The character seems to be looking down or at us. The tongue also emits the smokey colours, suggesting she breathes art.
The title is also very intriguing. "This thing called art is really dangerous". By looking at the picture one more time, the smokey colours make me refer to fire! The character is metaphorically 'burning' in her own flames of art! And amazing vision, and thought, I would say.
In the end, I would like to congratulate you for this amazing work. It makes me think of the impacts of art, and how it can show disaster, and also beauty.

As always, your work is striking and creative! However, it looks like something you struggled with, this time. The expression is a bit bland and emotionless and it detracts from the over all peice for me. The way you layer color and detail into the face is beautiful, but that eye seems a bit dead to me this time. If I had a cloud of art coming out of my mouth, I'd feel something, and I imagine that would reflect in my expression. That one line of red hair across her face also detracts, to me. It's cutting her in half visually, presenting two different side to her face where there were already two visually seperate entities. There's the viewer left of her face, the viewer right of her face, and the art cloud. The art cloud is extremely well done. the texture and color is interesting and has great depth and motion. that being said, it's still a pretty strong piece in it's own right, and highly original.

Honestly, this has to one of my favorites from your gallery. The misty-eyed, dolefulΒ look added with the colors and texture of this piece reminds me of how it feels to drown in emotion and thoughts; like gasping for air. This portrayedΒ that beautifully.Β
