WATCH THE SPED UP VIDEO ON YOUTUBE: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VHArN…

This is my participation to the most colorful deck of cards by Playing Arts Project.
We decided to let me make the Queen of Diamonds, so I thought to a diamond near to me, a faceted diamond created by geometric games. It's a rough diamond, as the young queen that I decide to create. dressed as a queen through the jewelry, but under this crown there is stilla child.

(a little interview about the card along the post: playingarts.com/news/ )

Once again, an attention grabbing piece. Though the technique is great, and the subject interesting, this is not my favorite piece from you. This one actually creeps me out a bit. Probably because you used such a cold, other-worldly pallet, and someone staring straight ahead. It reminds me of an illustration one might do for a horror movie. Regardless of my feelings, and my inclination to stay away from horror films, this is really well done. The background, while minimalist, is interesting, and plays nicely off the red gem on her forehead. She has really haunting eyes...
Overall, great realism, and a truly stunning piece. Just not my cup of tea, so to speak.

My name is Norman Harun, from Malaysia.
I am an architecture student from Universiti Teknologi MARA(UiTM) aka MARA University of Technology.
Im in my Bachelor of Science ( Architecture ) programme and currently in my second year.
For every semester, there will be specific projects given to students to pass, and for this semester it is DESIGNING a Studio + Home for an artist.
First, we are required to find a client/artist for the project and i chose you, coz i really like your work. I came to know your work when a i was doing a research on watercolour paintings(last semester project) and i found you.
Your artworks were brilliant, i really like them.
The Project :
IN the studio+home, you'll have plenty of spaces to work on and display your marvelous artwork.
Located by the bay, you can cruise around for inspirations or just to relax and lose yourself to calm breeze of the sea.
Knowing the CLIENT's WANTS and NEEDs are crucial in designing the studio + home.
It would be really helpful if you could tell me :
1) your likes and dislikes,
2) hobbies and stuff.
3) how would you like your studio to be
We can put in any particular architecture style or ideas that you like.
perhaps some home features or routine that u tend.
Waking to the morning sun showering your bedroom,
garden for the roof top, small private balcony,
a view of the calm sea.etc,
There are no charges, 100% free.
In addition, i could promote your works in malaysia, or better in ASIA.
You'll have MORE FANS AND ART LOVERS demanding for your beautiful paintings.
Lastly, I really hope to get a reply from you soon.

i've sent the same email to your mail and fb.

I really love the piece it's beautiful, love your control of loose vs. tight. However, it feels unfinished to me. The watercolor portion of it looks great, but the background looks like you laid it out but still have to finish it.

You should try taking some flats and brush in some subtle shadows on the edge of the lines in conjunction with your light source. Just a hint would keep it set back but relate it to the foreground more. If you're worried, try it on a separate piece of paper first.

Hope this helps e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

Keep up the good work!

This picture is very unique and high quality. It has a lot of symbolisms in it. It is very easy and clear to see. The eyes are showing that under pressure to stay calm even if it shows the break down. It is very original and the whiteness symbolizes innocence and purity. The colors make each other stand out and blend nicely. The chains that hold the diamond in place also shows the restraint of the picture. The diamond in the background kind of takes away from the picture. It stands out and takes your attention away from the true picture.

As a card in the deck, it is one of the few that belong. It appears to designed to be in the deck as opposed to chosen to be added to the deck. The diamond motif suits (no pun intended) the painting well. Were I expecting to see a queen I would absolutely expect to see some kind of gem. So at least in my mind, queens and geometry go hand in hand. This was executed well.

As for the quality of the painting it could have been better. It seems to be put together somewhat harshly and I would like to have seen softer edges to better depict the child. Places where shadow should be but were untouched by the brush and left white stand out to me. So the edges are somewhat crude but the concept and execution is beautiful.

In being harsh it makes a statement in itself and not to mention thats generally her style.

I watched the video to find out one thing: were the diamond and chain real or painted. The answer: painted! Amazing!

I'm glad I watched the video because I saw a few interesting techniques AND the amazing confidence of the artist! It was interesting to see that her materials hardly moved at all during the whole process.

Beautiful painting!

This creeps me out in the best way possible... whereas in your other piece, "tiny creature," the girl seems to be staring straight at me, the queen of diamond seems more... unfocused. And the color palette gives her an eerie look, as though her mind is blank... I love this so much!
