Description I've been rethinking some of the clothes for one of my oldest characters, Nicolette, who lives in an 18th-century-modeled fantasy world. In particular the fabrics and styles of this world are very much based on those of the 1770s and 1780s. I did the wardrobe meme for her a while back and it was helpful in making me think about what sorts of clothes she would be wearing as she transitions from rural to urban lifestyles, but of course that means I was thinking mostly of all the fancy pretty things. Now I'm going back and reimagining her daily, no-nonsense wardrobe in the late 18th century's beautiful palette of prints and colors. Mixing patterns was actually a thing back then, and I sort of love it, I'm not going to lie. So here we have casual attire probably best suited to autumn, since Nicolette is wearing a quilted petticoat and a knit shawl tied fichu-style around her caraco jacket. I also put her in a dormeuse cap, not because they're the most attractive things (they aren't...) but because a woman of lower-middle class doing work around an estate would have her hair covered by more than just a hat.

Overall, fairly pleased with the results, and I have a couple more casual outfits in penciled in stage for a sort of mix-and-match of practical wardrobe items.
