Description After a long long time, a new pencil drawing

This is a drawing of an advertisment of the Berlin production of Dance of the Vampires (Musical "Tanz der Vampire" - Music by Jim Steinmann and Michael Kunze).
The actors are Lucy Scherer (Sarah) and Thomas Borchert (Count).
I know, Graf von Krolock does not look like Thomas, but that was inteded....

Its about 6,5cm high and 9cm wide.

pencil only.
hope you like it

I'd be happy about some comments. thank you!!

Groovy stuff, I like the contrast in their expressions, innocent-like Sarah, overpowering von Krolock.

It's funny every now and then I see Thomas Borchert at a certain angel and he looks like Christopher Lee, this is one of those pictures, so even though you didn't intend him to look like Borchert, I see another vampire in him.

Nice work

This is fabulous!
I'm so glad someone else out there knows about Tanz der Vampire (I seriously think I'm the only American who is even aware that this musical exists, LOL).

Thanks a lot for the compliment and comment!
i'm happy that you like it but I'm afraid I've got to disappoint you: I'm German and I live near Hamburg so for two years I had the opportunity to be at the show within only 35min..... So I'm afraid you can't add me to the this of Americans who know about Tanz der Vampire sorry. But still: it is a phenominal show and I'm sooooo sad that the broadway version was a flopp. But when I heard what changes they've made to it, it is understandable. It was as if the German/Austrian Version was a completely different show what a shame!

How come that you know about Tanz der Vampire with you living in the States? Via YouTube or something like that? I'd be happy to hear more

and again: thank you for your comment!

A few years ago, I stumbled across a YouTube video of Steve Barton and Cornelia Zenz performing "Totale Finsternis" from the original Austrian production, and from then on I was hooked. I've always been a big fan of the composer, Jim Steinman, and I had no idea he'd written such a fantastic musical! I don't speak German, but with such a beautiful story and great music, the language barrier doesn't matter at all.

I never saw the Broadway version, but I heard an audio recording and it was nowhere near as good as the original. I read an English translation of the German lyrics and I wish they had just translated the show for Broadway instead of changing it. I hope someday I get a chance to see Tanz der Vampire in all its original German glory! LOL
Do you know if it's still playing anywhere in Germany or Austria?

thank god for youtube *GG*

yes, Tanz der Vampire is running in Oberhausen at the moment actually! I haven't seen that version yet. I saw it in stuttgart once, a couple of times in Hamburg *cough* and once in Berlin... but not yet in Oberhausen. I hope they haven't made too many changes to it... it already was a little different in Berlin. so keeping fingers crossed, that most of it always stays the same ^^

have you ever been to Germany or Austria? I soo wish to go to the states once in my life. Go to Disneyworld, Las Vegas and of course the Broadway that's def. one of my biggest dreams to see some special musicals that maybe haven#t even started in Europe yet Well...may be some time... ^^

That sounds exciting! I already found a few audio and video clips online from the production in Oberhausen and it looks amazing.

I've never been to Germany or Austria, but I would LOVE to go, especially to Germany. I don't know when I'll get a chance, but if I do, I hope I get to see Tanz der Vampire while I'm there.

And I hope you get to come to the States sometime, and all the places you named would definitely be fun to visit. I've never been to Vegas, but I was in Disneyworld a few months ago, and I love Broadway shows (even if the Broadway version of Tanz der Vampire was complete crap...LOL)!

I also love "Die Roten Stiefel/StΓ€rker als wir sind" and I'm SO glad it was added to the show! I also love "Einladung zum Ball," "Totale Finsternis," "Carpe Noctem," & "Tanzsaal." It's hard to choose a favorite because the whole show is so amazing!

I let a friend of mine hear some of the songs from Tanz der Vampire last week. He doesn't speak German so he didn't understand anything, but he liked the music so much that he immediately made me give him a copy of the soundtrack It's awesome to have another non-German speaker who understands my obsession with this show!

True, all in all, every song from she show is brilliant! Either it's the hilarious performance ore the costumes, the choreography and of course the music

yay a new person loving Tanz der Vampire *dance* Good Job *thumbs up*
Do you speak German? If so, did you learn it at school?

I wish I spoke German, but unfortunately I don't. One day I want to learn it, because it's such an awesome language - I love listening to people speak or sing in German even though I can't understand anything. I hope I get a chance to learn it... I'm sure it would make me love and appreciate Tanz der Vampire even more!

wow, i think i've never heard anyone before saying that German is an awesome language Normally, people tend to say, that german is a very ruff-sounding language and that germans normally sound "angry" when they speak.... It's not my opinion and I'm happy if some other people think the same ^^But i must say, that it's a difficult language - even for Germans. one example is the "the", which can be translatet into "der", "die" or "das" and then a word which normally has an "die" could also turn into a "der" if one wants to say that something belongs to something... ^^Β° It's fairly complecated and therefore it's important to hava good teacher. But if you have any questions or sentences you'd like to learn, just ask and I'll try to translate

Do you live near broadway? you mentioned, that oyu love broadway shows so I was wondering, whether you lived near by to get the chance and get to know some shows ^^
hope to hear from you!
see you!

I've heard that German is really hard to learn... one of my friends started learning it and she said it doesn't make any sense. There's a language center near my hometown where you can learn a language one-on-one with a native speaker, and I hope I can learn German through that, but it's really expensive so it might be a while before I can do it. But definitely someday!

I don't live close enough to New York to see Broadway musicals on a regular basis, but I have taken two vacations there and had a chance to see some shows! There are also tours of Broadway shows that come to my hometown, so I get to see a lot more theatre that way. How often do you get to see shows in Germany, and what other shows do you like besides Tanz der Vampire?

I guess it must seem for any non German person that the German language doesn't make a lot of sense - ok, it does make sense but it's really complicated ^^Β° But if one is really interested in the language, it is easier i guess My mum's English but her German is perfect now! it's amazing

I think it's great that there are proper tours around the US in order to bring the Broadway close to everybody who is interested unfortunatelly, musicals aren't as popular in Germany as they are in the US or in the UK... but as my internship near London starts in about 5weeks, I'm already making plans to see all kinds of Musicals I can't wait! I'll def. have to see wicked and the phantom of the opera... other than that maybe Les Mis or so... any suggestions?

Got ot get back to my revisions - got an exam tomorrow...
have a lovely day!
