Description This is a photo of my latest drawing.
I wanted to try something new... By "New" I mean different aspects: This time I drew without using a picture or photography as a motive and I tried to stay in a comic- style of drawing... Not quite sure whether it turned out right ^^°

For this picture I was inspired by Colby Thomas and her amazing charism on stage and especially in this scene of Andrew Lloyd Webber's absolutelly gorgeous Musical "Phantom of the Opera".
However, in this picture I mixed different versions of the Phantom of the Opera story: Christine's and Raoul's costumes as well as the Grave of Christine's father and the cross are from the musical production. I altered the Phantom's costume a little bit and also used the scene from Gaston Leroux's novel in which The Phantom actually stands on Monsieur Daaé's grave and plays the violine for Christine. Whilst she falls into the Phantom's spell Raoul who followed her from Paris comes running from his carriage to his love in order to save her from this enchantment....

Hope you like it

Thank you very much I actually wanted to keep the pic fairly ruff (comic style) but the original gate of the stage production was just way too beautiful to not add it's details in this picture. I'm very happy that you like it!

I love the grave, the gate and the skull you drew there. Then, I love Erik's figure, with his violin (OF COURSE I do... Erik rules! )
Yesterday night and this morning I was trying to draw him with his violin, but of course I wasn't able to do it -.-
So, didn't you look to any picture? All my compliments for this and all my compliments for the idea of mixing different features of the different versions it is really a good idea!
I like really much how you drew Christine's dress, too, but perhaps you should have done her hands a little bigger. And maybe the faces need a little more work...
Anyway, I like it very much! Great job indeed

PS: great avatar!

Aww, thank you so much for taking the time to critique!!

No, I didn't look to any picture to draw Erik or Raoul but it was really hard! ^^°
You're right about the hands and faces... the hands was onperpus because I was trying to draw "comic" style... but I'm that happy with it. In future I'll stick to realistic style^^

And THANK YOU so much for noticing the mixture of the different versions Normallly the ALW verison is my favourite but I always missed the scene with Eric playing the violin... that's where the idea came from ^^

again, thank you!!

Ohh... I simply LOVE the idea of Erik playing the violin in this situation. It's fantastic
And you're welcome of course, I easily noticed the different versions, and you said it in the introduction, didn't you?

Well... I prefer realistic style in fact xD but you were right to try other styles. It's always better to try new things
Sorry but... what does "onperpus" mean? Forgive me, I'm not English and it isn't written on the dictionary xD

Again you're welcome!!

yes, i did write it in the description but I didn't expect anyone to actually read that

oh, I'm sorry, I'm also not English (in fact, i'm from Germany. Where are you from if I may ask?) and I ment that I deliberately made the hands smaller. - I just looked in the dictionary and it needs to be spelt "on perpose" ^^° ups. sorry....my fault! no need for you to say sorry!

Again, thanks for your comment! I really appreciate it!

Oh well, I always read the description. If I don't, it means I'm really not interested in the image... and in that case I don't open it at all xD
Ok, don't worry, everybody can make mistakes! I do, and a lot, too. xD
And you're welcome again
Ah, and I'm Italian, anyway

Woah! Really? Oh well, I can understand why... I live in Rome now, and it is simply WONDERFUL
I love my country, even if it has so many problems, most of all about politicians but also about the people mentality :S
And how is Germany?

I guess every country has its problems... its the same in Germany... but i still love my country - especially Hamburg, where i was born. We have lots of water, a proper harbour too. Much and much of cultur and free time activities for people of every age. Havent seen much of the south of Germany yet i must admit. That's still on my to-do-list

Oh well, you're right, to each one his problems!

Anyway, we have lot of water too, of course, but it depends from where you live. I lived in the South Italy when I was younger, so I've seen it... and I went to the North a couple of times, and now I live in Rome, which is in the centre. But I've to see a looot of places here in Italy yet, exactly like you and Germany

I'd like to come to Germany one day, too!

Another great work of yours! Considering you didn't use a picture as a motive and you keep saying you can't draw without one, you did an amazing job! It's very well done. In my opinion you managed to put your guidelines into practice - the style IS different than usual, although you still can see traces of your personal style. I couldn't name it though - but we already agreed it's very difficult to describe.
One thing I always notice: the foreground seems a little bit empty. Maybe a few stones or gravestones would have been good.
I like Erik a lot! You can't see very much of him, but even with a few pencil strokes you captured his mysterious and charismatic personality!
Did I already mention I like this drawing??

hiya Nimue-1981
thanks a lot for the comment and I'm happy that you like the pic
You are right! This time I also noticed that the foreground is far to empty. I told my sister anyway, that I will make some corrections, when she's back from London so I can work around the actors' autographs (if everything works out well and can see the show once more before she flies back )
And then I'll upload another scan of this pic - let's see how that turns out
