Jealous of his mother Ina, the sun, and his father Talo, the Moon, Sezeri, the God of winter sought to challenge his powers against his creators to prove himself worthy. With this Sezeri seized control of the lands covering every inch of them with ice and snow. His bitter howl could be heard echoing the barren lands as the people and the animals of the earth suffered, as the demons of famine and disease devoured them one by one. While Sezeri’s brothers and sisters wept behind their icy prisons, but still Sezeri was unsatisfied.

Ina and Talo heard the cries of their children and looked on at Sezeri with disappointment. Frustrated in Sezeri, they created Idmu a boy, gifted with a heart so warm and pure that it could melt Sezeri’s wrath. Gifted with a magical spear, a demor, and the power of knowledge, Idmu went to seek out Sezeri in the name of Ina and Talo. Idmu traveled for many days and nights, far across the barren lands, following the spiritual guides that Ina and Talo had set out before him to uncover the Mountains of Sezeri.

When Idmu finally came face to face with Sezeri, he stood as tall as a mountain over Idmu. Sezeri spoke, his voice was frigid and deep, “Who enters the home of Sezeri?” he said as Idmu stood there fearlessly, “It is I, Idmu child of Ina and Talo. I have come to offer gifts as a token of peace.” Sezeri stared at Idmu “ I am not easily swayed, brother. Now, Leave.” Determined, Idmu exclaimed, “I did not think that you would be easily swayed, but I also did not think you would be foolish. Sezeri narrowed his eyes and put his face in front of Idmu so that he could examine him closer, “How dare you speak like that to me!” Idmu stared back into the Sezeri’s glistening eye, and calmy exclaimed “I know the secret to becoming greater than even Ina and Talo.” Sezeri was angered by Idmu’s bold comment but continued to gaze on at Idmu with fierce curiosity, “How would YOU know of such a secret?”
