# About me

I trained and worked as a government lawyer, due to parental insistence on a "proper job" (ha ha). But throughout my career I stayed involved with producing art and graphics on the sidelines, which was what I really wanted to do all along. In a weird way, though, I'm not sorry I did all the other stuff. Just glad I held to my truth through thick and thin. Now I'm indulging my real passion.

I'm currently working on illustrations for an A4 format hard-cover book to be published in NZ late 2011, about a very ancient burial tree and the history it has seen. A lot of varied subject-matter, since the book traverses 2000 years of NZ history. Author specifically stated she did not want a standard illustration style, or anything 'cartoon-like', as she called it. So I am painting in acrylic on board 15"x20" - 36 of them. (It's a big order!)

UPDATE:
Well, the book is published and getting favorable reviews. I'll be posting the work gradually, now I don't have to keep it under wraps any more. Artwork - design, consultations, painting and all - was completed in 12 months. Whew!

I've just bought a second-hand Wacom Intuos 3. Looking forward to the next steps ...
