And thanks for the watch.
I remember you asked what the bis meant in the number of the stars.
All the stars were variation over a same base, but when two variations were too similar in the folding sequence, even if they looked completely different, I would give a normal number to the first one and that number plus a bis to the second one.
I have invented more than 500 of those stars, but I stopped cataloging and counting them.

It's okay, please don't feel sorry for that, I think it just because I'm not familiar with the terms used in the paper folding.

In origami, a base is an intermediate point in the folding sequence from which you have the structure or foundation to build that model. A same base can be used in many different models. For example, all the Stars of Eden in my origami web have the same base. The arabesque stars there share a different base. The cat, dogs, horse, mouse, dinosaur, fox and some other animal use the same base or variations of that base. Curiously, the turkey and the dragon have the same base too. That is, both models are folded exactly the same way during the beginning.

Oh, is it something like the base of the kawasaki rose? I've tried that before by following youtube tutorial video, though I success on folding the rose but still not sure about the calculation of the sequence within it.Β Β

Most origami models have a base. Until 20 years ago or so, all the origami models used bases, but since then many origami creators use computers to design their models and use different techniques.
Look in google for works like "Bird base" "waterbomb base" "blntzed bird base" "frog base" etc. Those are some of the traditonal bases used in origami and thousands of models have been created from them.

Woah, thank you very much for the explanation! Β
It's a new knowledge to me, I've been only following those origami folding tutorials without knowing there's name for the bases.Β Β

I meant "blintzed bird base".
There are names for the folds too, included composed folds that need to done at the same time:
Pleat fold, elias stretch, rabbit ear, double rabbit ear, swivel fold, inside reverse fold, outside reverse fold, pinch, etcΒ

That's alot of them, I'll need to take some time to google them.
Thanks for all the information. It's so cool to know more about origami.Β Β Β

I am glad you are having fun.
One of my first origami books was in English and I learnt the names of the folds and the bases in English instead of in Spanish, my native language. In that time, I knew very little English, almost nothing.
