Dear I need your help. I want another tattoo! I want to do the key/lock/heart(ish) theme with headphones incorporated (all my tats are gonna be roughly music themed)
You should totally whip something up for me. I just want the lock for now, now key, I'll have that done later. If you can't push headphones into it without making it look cheesy then thats cool...
but I need a unique lock! O_O

Mkay. I can do some stuff for you. But could you help me out with a bit more detail about what exactly it is that you want this to look like? And when do you want it by?

stuff like what? You let me know what you like and I'll draw ya something. I better get cheese cake in return though. I don't know if you've heard but I demand cheese cake when people request things of me. It used to be blood payment but I seemed to get a lot of hesitation whenever I requested that, so like the gentleman I am, I down graded to cheese cake. Though under some circumstances I do accept simple high fives and video game play time.

uh... I donno, what do you LIKE drawing? or what would you like more practice with? I have zero art talent, and a HUNORMOUS imagination, so i could probably think of like tons of stuff. or some stuff.... you know, whatever.

Hmmm...well I prefer to draw weird creatures and dark themes, but really anything and everything is fun for me. I currently have the means for most mediums except oil (stupid pricey paint). So fire something out at me. A theme or whatever. It can be a specific thing even if you want, and in whatever medium you'd like. I love to try and draw stuff from imaginations. You get the coolest results that way.

Oh, I'm good. Just trying to finish up this school year and have less stress. I had stress induced hives come on last week and they're still not completely gone yet. Bleh. haha Happy for spring break though! I'm hoping to get going on some art projects I've had in mind done then How have you been? Been working on some neat 3D stuff I see.

Awww... I'm sorry! *hug*
I'm totally ready for spring break - I'm in the mood to do my *own* art instead of assignments.
I'm alright - picked up a lot of hours at work (great for the paycheck, bad for the free time), stayin' alive in school - loving 3D, and I think, will always be working on my drawing ability.
Glad you like the 3D stuff! ^.^ Thanks for lookin' at it.

yeah, well it's looking like I may be swamped with homework over spring break now. I have to virtually do an entire project for Graphic Design and some other junk for Typography and stuff. But I'm still hoping to get some of my "own" non homework art done too. And of course! I really enjoy your 3D stuff! It's fun to look at.

Well, see, I'm without a car. And Tucson IIIISS forever and a half away, and car-less people like me often die of exhaustion when walking there from Flagstaff. One person also got devoured by coyotes after they trailed him for 23 miles watching his malnourished form wander along the main road until he looked juicy enough to consume. Not a bad way to go if you ask me. BUT, it's always been my dream to go from being eaten by hybrid zombie croco-toos, so no walking to Tucson for me I guess. Por que? Did you want to go zombie slaying? We can use zombie-killing acid <---new from Japan ;D

Well, surprised and at the same time, scared!
I thought you were early twenties - probably because most of my friends are. I'm used to being the youngest and looking the oldest.
I'm scared, because you're WAY better than I was 2 years ago.

I'll be 20 in Jan.
I feel like I'm 30, cause I LOOK like I'm 30.
Scary because... because... Well, happy for you, scared for me. I've got a lot of work to do until I consider myself "good" - you, methinks, have time AND skill on your side.

Ha, you're only like a year ahead of me- I turn 19 in April. Seriously, my skills probably won't change too drastically within one year.
I actually really like to paint, so I hope to get more practice at that within the next year. Unfortunately, I left all of my finished paintings at home so I have to wait a couple of weeks before I can get a hold of those so I can post them.

What kinds of painting do you like to do? I have more experience with acrylics and a bit with watercolors but I've never worked with oils.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Rhino0 In reply to renji7 [2008-11-14 17:02:28 +0000 UTC]
Only oils, really. I did acrylic once, and sort of liked it, but I had a class on oils and became more comfortable with them.
Digital has become my new pet. I just have to watch my compositions... I don't have a natural eye for good composition. Sucks, but c'est le vie.

heh, yeah. I actually just learned about "good" composition my senior year in high school because that was the first year my school offered art class. I'm really looking forward to doing digital art, seeing as I'm sorta going into that and all. I don't yet have the technology though.

Rhino0 In reply to renji7 [2008-11-14 23:09:37 +0000 UTC]
Understandable. I highly suggest you consider getting a mac, if you're talking about computers. I find them less frustrating - but to each their own.
And I'm afraid piracy or a lot of money are the only ways to obtain the software you need.
There is one exception:
Blender - Full featured free 3D animation and modeling program. Too good to be true, almost. It's tough to learn, but if you play with it now, you might have some idea of how other programs work, when you get to them.
I'll pay you someday Adobe... someday...

renji7 In reply to Rhino0 [2008-11-15 00:29:34 +0000 UTC]
hahaha. Yeah, I've heard macs are more user friendly. I'll probably end up getting one someday. Where is Blender at? Can I legally download it for free or does it cost money as well? I have a learning edition of maya on my computer but haven't really had a chance to play around with it much. Is blender sort of similar or is it better than Maya?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Rhino0 In reply to renji7 [2008-11-15 05:36:01 +0000 UTC]
Ah! If you're going to learn a 3D program, Maya's probably going to be your best bet. Autodesk has bought out most of the 3D modeling companies, and the interface is MUCH easier to learn than Blender.
Blender can be obtained at [link] - it's good for freelance work. Free to use - full version, no watermarks, nothing.
I prefer Blender to Maya, but I'm learning maya, and my opinion might change. Blender wins, because it's free, but... Maya is definitely an animation program. Blender.... you sort of have to start from scratch.
Check out Blender's gallery though! Impressive stuffs.
As far as mac's go - I find them less prone to crashing. PC's are going to be cheaper, but... you're going to have to do more tweaking. Anyways, let me know if you decide to go one way or the other.

Wow, there are some nice works in that gallery! I downloaded Blender and plan to try it out. So are you currently taking classes for Maya at your college? Oh, and what college are you going to exactly?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Rhino0 In reply to renji7 [2008-11-15 18:46:39 +0000 UTC]
Yay Blender!
It's very... um... not so user friendly. But there are a lot of free tutorials on the internet.
Yes! I'm taking courses in Maya - I attend the Art Center Design College on Country Club & Grant.
We're doing character modeling right now - I don't really want to post either one of my models up here, because I don't really like either one. But it might be good for feedback.
*shrug*

renji7 In reply to Rhino0 [2008-11-16 00:11:29 +0000 UTC]
haha Well I'm beginning to think nothing is user friendly. Anyways, so it keeps telling me I need Python to be able to use all the features...but I have Python 2.6 so I don't know what it wants from me. Do I have the wrong version or something?
Hooray! And your college is accredited. *sob* I wanted to go to an art college so badly uhhg I just didn't want to live somewhere hot, and virtually all art colleges in Arizona are located in southern Arizona haha
oooooo. character modeling! Feedback is always bueno. But I know what you mean about the whole not wanting to post work you're not satisfied with thing.

Rhino0 In reply to renji7 [2008-11-16 00:30:07 +0000 UTC]
Yeah... when it comes to 3D, it helps to be a techie. Least, it helps me.
Hmmm... will blender let you open it at all? Because... you shouldn't need python - python is the script side of things, as far as I remember. The interface and commands should work just fine without it.
My college is accredited! Why does that make you cry? We're going for another specialized accreditation right now...
Only problem is, we're so small, we get no scholarship money.
Oh, and S. AZ SUCKS. I want out of this place so bad. As soon as I graduate, I'm moving to Cali. Even if I don't have a job yet. I just want to GTFO.
It is expensive to go, but... a lot of people who have come from other colleges have said that we're like the CalArts of AZ... which is awesome, because CalArts DEFINES art schools, as far as I'm concerned.
If you ever want help with modeling or modeling advice, lemme know. I can teach you what I have been taught.

renji7 In reply to Rhino0 [2008-11-16 01:31:14 +0000 UTC]
I can open blender just fine. It just has that message pop every time. Well, I guess it's not a problem then.
Hahaha. No, I wasn't crying because your college is accredited. I think that's great! I'm sad that I'm not at an art school. Couldn't really afford to go to one...yet...someday. I shouldn't complain. I'm not paying a dime for NAU, and I'm learning more about the way people perceive visual objects and images at the moment, which can help me in the long run I guess.
Yeah California seems to be the place to go if you want to go into anything that involves good animation. At least that's what I've found to be true so far.
Thanks a lot! The help would be awesome. Yeah, be prepared for a slew of questions in the near future- after I start playing with blender.
What kinds of classes are you required to take for your degree? Do you take strictly art courses there or are other credits required?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Rhino0 In reply to renji7 [2008-11-16 04:18:30 +0000 UTC]
The coolest thing about my college is... they require almost NO gen eds - I mean, in the long run, they do, but not HALF as many as... say.. the U of A.
The majority of your classes are art classes - traditional 2D, design classes, and Drawing. They really try to drill the basics and bones of good design into you before you touch the 3D stuff, or even animate, so that the time you get to the top, good design is secondary nature - so you can concentrate on saying what you want to say.
And I can understand not being able to afford it. I'd give almost anything to not have to pay for college...
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
renji7 In reply to Rhino0 [2008-11-16 06:50:45 +0000 UTC]
Wow. I really wish I could skip some of the general ed stuff I have to do. And it didn't help that I decided to join the Honors program because I am required to take English classes that I wouldn't normally have to take for my degree.
I'm taking basic drawing classes right now but I'm pretty disappointed because my teacher isn't giving me any kind of pointers. He kinda just doesn't say anything to me. I take drawing fundamentals 2 next semester so maybe I'll get some kind of feedback there. I would really like to take an anatomy class though.
Yeah, well, although I would have prefered a degree from an art school to start off with, my degree from NAU will hopefully allow me to get a job that will allow me to save up some money to GO to an art school. Preferably a job that gives me more than the pitiful $6.90 an hour that I'm currently making. haha
