Hello, my artist alley friend! So good to see you again at AUSA! I tried to find you while I was in costume, but since I never did, here's a link to a photo of me on Flickr flic.kr/p/AaxNeJ . I've been taking a break from AA so I can work on my Hanako-san graphic novel (for which you can see some pictures here gregoriusu.deviantart.com/gall… ) I've got a complete script finally--now if I can only find some advisors on Japanese culture to read it!

nice drawing :) (Smile) I guess my advice to you would be to try varying your line thickness a bit more. make darker lines around parts of her eyes, in places in her kimono collar that might have shadows, etc. and it will help her face stand out more.

is this pencil?

Yes its pencil. (I drew most of it at school.) I didn't know whether or not to make the eye lines very dark like in other anime's or keep it thin so I could erase it easyer. And when you say darken the lines in parts of her eyes, do you also mean in the pupil?

I'm still working on shadows...

yes, I think I'd maybe make the outline around the iris a bit thicker and the lines around the eye, but not the whole thing -- only parts, especially the upper half. however if you are planning to ink it, I would maybe wait to thicken lines and do it with the ink so that (as you say) it isn't too hard to erase the pencil.
