Hello Kayla!
I really appreciate the fave.
It means the world to me, coming from
an artist as talented as yourself, and
I bow in gratitude for the act of kindness.
I'll be completely honest. I feel that my
poetry stinks, and that I'm not a real
poet, but the purpose of my writings are
not standard art. It's a spiritual art
that started when I achieved a
connection with the Universe and with
the world around me.
A good 90% of the writings that are
posted in my gallery are those which are
wrote during meditation. They lack the
proper grammatical structure common in
most good works of poetry, they often
have invented words, they have no
capitalization and even others have no
form of punctuation, but this is because
I type the poems on here exactly as they
are wrote on the meditation paper during
my evening practice.
I'd love to learn a little more about
you, if you have the time. What inspires
you? Where do you get this inspiration
from? There are a million questions that
I'd love to ask...
Again, thank you for the kind fave. It
means the world to me.

what inspires me is the fact that there are still infinite subtle complexities in people... such as in "inspired" poets who use stock replies in thanks. it can save time, it's thoughtful, but only once. it's interesting to see these days. actions, I think, do describe people better than their words. or at least, different sides.
it's my opinion that your (perhaps striving towards universal?) "gratitude" would mean a lot more to the person if you actually looked, absorbed, and responded to their own gallery as they did yours.
not that I think what you do or how you are is in any way bad, but that if you wanted to appear *genuine* ...
well, whatever. we do what we can.
anyway, thank you for the kind name-capture and copy-paste.
I think I'll leave this comment and response up for advertising; I know it worked on me.

nah, I just kinda value sincerity. and humility.
ha.
so you're a philosopher trying to be spiritual, or you're a spiritual person trying to be philosophic?
because from my experience, those two don't mix too well.

spiritualrocket In reply to onlyevier [2009-03-29 23:21:06 +0000 UTC]
Hahaha. No doubt, I've actually had moments
where both spirituality and philosophy have
butted heads in battle within my soul, but
in more recent times, my own daily practice
and inner-discipline have blended the both
of them into a middle-way blend.
When I first started my studies and practice,
I was a spiritual person trying to be a
philosopher. Then I swung all the way to the
other side of the spectrum, and became way
more philosophical than spiritual.
In the end, I found a balance, through a
particular school of philosophical thought.
I'd mention which it is, but, alas, I tend
to not, because I don't ever want to sound
like I'm pushing my philosophy above any
others-- so I normally don't.
How about you? Would you consider yourself
a philosopher? A spiritualist? Both? Maybe
neither?

That sounds like it should be tough, but your words are apathetic.
I wouldn't assume you were pushing your belief if you just named it.
I'm neither spiritual or philosophical because I am in the middle. It hurts too much to be pulled either way, so I refuse both. But then, I also refuse the mundane.
It's logical reason or spiritual desire and I can't ever decide.
I tend to get into conversations talking about this stuff when I'm in the 'hardcore agnostic' stage I always fall back to.
but yeah, again, you sound pretty detached.

Stoicism. Have you ever heard of the Stoics?
May I ask a question?
Why does it hurt you to be pulled one
way or the other?
Theologically and metaphysically, I am what
you'd call a spiritual agnostic. Oxymoron,
I know, I know. I don't care much to defend
that one.
Also, what do you mean by 'detached'?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
onlyevier In reply to spiritualrocket [2009-03-30 02:37:27 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I have heard of the Stoics. I haven't learned much about them though. Quick wiki tells me that it sounds like Taoism.
Why does it hurt? I hate believing things that I can't be certain of and I hate being certain of things that I don't want to believe.
Spiritual agnostic... What's the spiritual aspect?
Detached? "Stoic".
Emotionless, rather.

lol. "dear one". you remind me of this guy on youtube... channelhigherself. he says that all the time.
it's interesting, that.
I think it's a kind of common belief nowadays.
it's interesting to love everyone and everything and feel a connection.
I don't, I can conceptualize it (everything is made of the same thing)
but I don't really *know* it. and I don't like people, or reality.
I like persons, but not people.
and I'm chaotic, so... I don't see "unity" as a "universal" goal.
it will happen, I'm sure. but the chaotic are the tools for it. to perfect things.
uh, yeah. um.
well that is interesting.
I might be misunderstanding your poem though.
it will all cease to be?
isn't total nonexistence impossible?

Well, I'm not so sure if the
universe will ever end
itself, but this is because
we cannot possibly know the
infinite vastness of the
universe and its mysteries.
When I was speaking of loving
all beings, knowing that they
will all someday expire, I
was speaking about the
inevitable event of nature
known as death that we must
all someday encounter.

or are you unsure of that as well?

there is another side...

I live more in my thoughts about what there could be than what there is.
it would be nice to think like that for a change, though.

Actually, I started off as a Taoist before
progressing toward Stoicism. It's like you're
hitting the nail right on the head.
This is where spirituality and philosophy
are often turned away from. Dogma. You see,
you can be spiritual and also philosophical,
without subscribing to a theological or
metaphysical dogma.
I wrote this poem here on dA a few days ago,
titled "spirituality", that I'd like to share with
you because I feel it would best answer your
question as to how I can be both spiritual and
an agnostic [link]
how amazing it feels to love someone,
everyone, and to be in a constant state of
gratitude. it's the closest thing to faith for
an agnostic, like myself.
how scary it is to be loved, to be thought of
as a gift or a blessing, when everything i do
or say might cause them to change their
mind and take their love away.
but something in my heart loves all beings,
knowing that they will all someday cease
to be, and in this love i feel something
sacred, something divine, connecting all
that exists.
this is how i have found my spirituality.
I know, I know, it's very corny, and forgive
me for this, but at least it's an answer as
to what's the spiritual aspect of my spiritual
agnosticism.
