Good, the only Vietnamese food have eaten was a steak sandwich in a Manchester pub in England, so I am not too familiar with your cuisine, Has McDonalds and Costa Coffee spoilt your countries cuisine yet?

You may want to try either Phở, Bún or Bánh Mì (Vietnamese bread which is a variant of French bread)

As for McDonalds, there're several shops here but they seem to fail to make large impact possibly due to them not be able to beat local fast food. Coasta Coffee I had not seen them but I read that they opened a few shops somewhere.

Yea bánh mì is a very common food in Vietnam and it have more flavors than just pork

They may had tried but AFAIK they had not success, say street food still fill the street here just like before Mc Donald arrival

You can eat banh mi with a lot of thing but commonly they would be eat with various kind of meats (most common is pork) and eggs along with vegetables and sauces

Eh not really. While most of Vietnamese goods appear to be cheap for foreigner they are not necessary so for Vietnamese, in fact large part of Vietnamese's income go to food.

Unfortunately, tourists only see the 'nice bargains' and do not have to live on the countries wages scale! I know [?] the Vietnamese economy as opened up to foreign businesses e.g. Adidas, I take it the wages are not very good for the workers?

It's in compassion to food. Or more exactly the living cost in Vietnam is rather high and I believe not only Vietnam but many other nations like those in Asia may have the same problem. In the other hand I heard that lower worker wage is no longer the strong part here anymore.

Food prices have gone up in the UK, it was due to crap weather at the growing phase of the harvest last year but we import a lot of goods from Europe and the Brexit mess has not helped. UK is leaving the European Union=Brexit.
So it is similar in Vietnam, are the farms collectivised or are they privatised now?
Is the economy under state control?
