# About me
Got started with "How To Draw Comics The Marvel Way", started copying video game art, moved on to manga, took human anatomy classes in college, later tried out cartooning, ended up somewhere inbetween. Still try to avoid perspective and backgrounds.# Comments

out of curiosity, I would like to ask how much time does it take to do a rpg strip once you have the idea?

The strip itself only takes about half an hour to do. It's the writing and editing (which I end up having to endlessly revisit because I suck at editing) that takes the real time. If it is a simple enough idea that comes fully formed it might take only a couple of minutes more. There are strips whose scripts I've edited and reedited over the course of months before I got what I wanted. Not that I spent that long but I might look some of them over them every other week and edit scripts till I like them.

the only ohter tale i heard of a 9 player group was a failiur that could only be comperaed with one word: gazebo

We never had gazebo moments but we did regularly have games of Chez Geek, Magic the Gathering, and Legend of the Five Rings going on at various points of the table during combat encounters... and non-combat encounters. At any given time only two or three players were paying attention. It was not exactly an ideal situation.

I've seen attention deficit but not to that extent(nor have I heard of)... and even a fumble on wisdon/intel check doesn't explain playing something else during the game, especially another rpg!!
I may finish developing my thougths on that once i find a way to formulate them properly in english.
And in your case, your probaly are wiser from having seen in firsthand the worst in rpg.

Combat rounds would take 15-20 min each, since characters had 1-4 separate actions per round; so the guy with one action has a lot of time to kill. Thus the L5R and Magic games happening on the far end of the table.
Playing with new DMs has shown me some pretty inexplicably bad things over the years, like: sleeper cell agents who agree to walk in front of the guy with the heavy weapons when the good party members are away, NPCs who can only be talked to by other NPCs, heroes with a ship and enough money to decline every mission the DM throws at them, BBEGs who continue to monologue when you declare multiple actions to aim for bonus damage headshots, villains who try to get the heroes to engage in a rigged game of death when said villain is as helpless as a kitten, villains who try to use threat of personal injury to stop heroes who are demonstrably reckless and borderline suicidal, DMs encouraging players to waste time with Monty Python references during combat, and DMs who don't know the rules but allow the Munchkin to use 3rd party and home made rules over the objections of everybody at the table who has DMed the system before.

Nine players with 4 power gamers was tough even for our power gamer DM in one of the campaigns I was in in highschool.

I've had time to kill in the two home games I'm playing in right now (a 7th Sea game and a 2nd Ed AD&D game). Otherwise I'd have gotten very little done.

I don't generally draw unless I am sitting around with little else to do. Otherwise I'd be reading (and I just started reading Judge Dredd), surfing the internet, watching movies, or playing games.

Glad to know that some of my own parties' insanity can help you keep yours. It often helps to know that your table is not the nuttiest, or at least not the only ones to try running through the corridors naked in order to try and get a surprise (or in some cases revulsion) round of free attacks on each new group of guards.

I love your forgotten realms character portraits. you have a cool cartoony simplistic style which lends itself well to your fantasy mini portraits. I'm a fan.

Thanks a lot. I actually used to do mini portraits of all my NPCs to show my players but I don't think I still have any of those.

That's awesome. Have you ever done an aasimar mini?
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
mindflenzing In reply to Half-Dorc [2011-09-28 17:03:52 +0000 UTC]
No. Surprisingly I never made an aasimar NPC and I've never even played a race with a level adjustment (though I think aasimar and tiefling were only a +1). I have seen too many characters die in a hurry because of the hit die tax on those. I'd rather have a limited version of an awesome racial power a la 4th Ed than be penalized levels for the full thing. I like the unique story element of being an extraordinary being more than the potentially game breaking power of one (like the dragon whelp which was like a six level adjustment).

I almost wish somebody had played a dragon in one of my games so I could say I killed a 6th level character with an improvised thrown weapon or a subdual strike.
