Stop using MS paint.

johnsamer98 In reply to Science-Turtle [2009-09-30 11:55:48 +0000 UTC]

Also, Paint has its values as an art program. For those of us less technically inclined, it provides an excellent first rung of the ladder. Using Paint doesn't make you a bad artist. It just means you aren't ready to make your pics flashy yet and you'd rather focus on artistic talent instead of technical skill. I know many supposed Oekaki artists that use Paint and apart from their being no airbrush you can't tell the two apart. I'm gonna post some on my blog so you can compare if you like.

I have no idea if you go on DA anymore (probably not) but I highly disapprove of your slandering MsPaint. A good artist-and excellent artist-does not rely on "professional tools" that said, MsPaint is not just used by novice artists but also professionals. It can be used by artists of all levels.
I suggest you look at this: [link]
BTW this guy also does awesome art using Cheetos. Proving, it's not the tools that define the artist but the artist that defines the tools.
And if you still don't comprehend the power of Paint, I'd suggest you visit

Hello. I hope my comment to you on the whole German/American thing wasn't rude. If it did seem rude, I didn't mean for it to be, and I don't want it to seem like I am imposing my ideas on you. because I am not.

You have a nice gallery

That's OK. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I was a bit offensive without meaning to be so I appoligise.

I don't know what I've done to denote being cool as I've really only just started and I haven't got round to critiqing everyone yet but your welcome and thanks anyway.

Your artwork isn't bad but the way you shade alot of it doesn't let it show it's potential.

It looks like you have used a cheep effect in a vector program to make the shading. When you look closer you can see that this isn't true but that is how it looks from your gallery and front page.

As a general rule, the shaded region should be the same percentage of the width across it no matter how wide the object is. Therefore the shaded bit will be bigger on a wider object and smaller on a narrower object.

thank you for the advice, and i really like the cell-shading effect, hence the "cheap vector look". i didn't really get the last part but thanks! good luck with your art and have lots of fun everyday!
