well, its just that its nothing more than a poorly edited angle picture that looks like EVERY scene/emo kids myspace photo, there is nothing remotely punk about any part of it.

I don't know if I can submit my journal entry as a deviation, its just a chapter out of American Psycho. Its cool that you appreciate it too though.

Ahah, I thought you'd written it. Must find that book. Reminds me of a more gory Hunter Thompson...

fat-bob In reply to veddie-edder [2009-05-09 23:48:40 +0000 UTC]

Really, the reason I liked American Psycho as much as I did was because I ended up relating alot to the Patrick Bateman character, some of the mental processing and the breakdowns and just the mentality of it so similar to how I think and feel was just incredible. I do write considerably like that when I do write, I just don't write often.
I haven't read any of Hunter S Thompsons books, but I've seen Fear And Loathing.

i am experiencing a connection like that at the moment with a book (steppenwolf by hermann hesse).
it's amazing when you find a book, or even a poem or song, that you can relate to that much. it's inspiring and quite fulfilling. i try not to intentionally relate myself or my situations to books/poems/songs but sometimes it just can't be helped. actually bought a copy of american psycho last week, so thank you for the introduction.

quite a good representation of the book and of hunter s. thompson's person - unlike a lot of films made from books, not a lot of the actual text was skipped over. the film would make even less sense if aspects of it were to have been missed out
do read the books if you get a chance one day, though - they have something no film can ever quite capture.

I'll look up Steppenwolf, does it have any ties to the band of the same moniker?
I'm kind of ashamed that I connected to American Psycho, its not a clean, friendly happy book, but the more I read it and really thought about why I liked it so much, the more some of my 'back of the head thoughts' surfaced (thoughts that you don't really give any consideration to, that you normally ignore).
Rosemary's Baby was almost word-for-word out of the book as well, it was just delightful to me because it was the same down to colour schemes. I have wanted to read Hunter S Thompson's writing, but its hard to find around where I live. I could own 40 copies of twilight though, if I wanted.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

veddie-edder In reply to fat-bob [2009-05-23 22:27:21 +0000 UTC]

nope, the book makes no reference to the band because it's older than them. i think the band probably got their name from the book
what kind of a human being would you be if you connected with clean, friendly happy books? hell, i'd have a pretty boring existence if i could relate to 'the very hungry caterpillar'.

back of the head thoughts are wonderful.

oh & i have never read or watched twilight - i take it that you have? you poor sod. from what i can gather that is very bad...

Well, It is not that I didn't like the movie, I was just over exaggerating, I was just odd. And yes, I just saw the shining last Friday.

I know this is rather random but I wanted to say thanks! A long time ago you asked me if I was real happy and I wasn't. But I changed my life around and now I am. I think you asking that had a huge impact on the way I thought about things.

How is life doll? I miss the family minus an obvious someone. I worry about Kaddy a lot.

Sorry if it's weird to say this here. Or just in general.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

fat-bob In reply to SkellingtonC [2009-01-26 23:49:56 +0000 UTC]

well...you're welcome! no one thanks me for things normally, so its a nice surprise. i felt so awkward asking it but maybe you didn't realise you seemed so unhappy.
i'm worked up about my birthday. Kaddy is just taking on too much around the house, like she was before. justin's being a man-whore, incase you wanted to know.
well, when else are we likly to talk/see eachother?

SkellingtonC In reply to fat-bob [2009-01-27 04:12:27 +0000 UTC]

Well it's good to be appreciated. For someone so small you do a lot from what I've seen! I seriously owe you so much. I'm really glad you asked it. I feel like I have my old life and sense of self back. Poor Kaddy. She's too young for all that stress. Ugh. Lucky ladies. *rolls eyes* Naw, I really don't want to think about it. I hope he and Connor are getting along better though. Haha most likely never. This is a good place to chat! No one pries into other peoples' business. Just critisizes art work. Have you been working on anything lately? I need to do more portraits again. Would you like to be another one?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

fat-bob In reply to SkellingtonC [2009-01-27 05:09:51 +0000 UTC]

i'm always helping someone, so long as you're happy it all worked out ok. Kaddy takes it on herself though. it's not up to her to make sure that the boys go to bed by a certain time or to try and cook everytime, it shouldn't be at least.
it's creepy to hear him, i'm always worried connor will try to one up him. the two of them are getting along pretty well, connor paid for justins rent this month though.
i worked on my next tattoo, but i'm not too inspired still to do anything else.
i don't know if i have any good pictures, but if there is one, you can go right ahead!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SkellingtonC In reply to fat-bob [2009-01-27 15:45:14 +0000 UTC]

Yes, incredibly happy. Poor girl she shouldn't feel like she's responsible for all that stuff. Hopefully she will learn it's not her job. I don't see Connor ever trying to pull anything like that. I've seen you two together. That doesn't seem right. That's a lot of money! But I suppose if he offered. Maybe I'm just greedy and would never do that myself.
Mmm tattoos. I have my next few planned out. My sister is taking me for my birthday. For sure! Maybe I'll do a zombie one or something. I will have a look. I need more subjects to draw. Everyone here tries too hard to be "pretty". It's not very appealing.

fat-bob In reply to SkellingtonC [2009-01-27 16:20:08 +0000 UTC]

i don't think she will, because i've seen barb try to tell her 'not to bother, you're not the mum' and she still tries. Connor and i have different things we have issue with, but we try our best to keep it behind our own doors. i thought it was rotten too, he didn't ask/offer, myron said he needed to because justin was out of work. i don't think i would either, honestly.
i've got a rought sketch for my next one up on here, you should tell me if it has anything seriously wonk with it. i have a bunch more pictures on my facebook too.

SkellingtonC In reply to fat-bob [2009-01-27 18:49:48 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm well I guess she will have to learn on her own. That sucks but it's worse when everyone has to hear about your problem's when you don't want them to. Wow that's....I don't even know. I think people should be responsible for themselves if they're chosing where they live. But I'm looking to be living with 3 other people to avoid paying high rent so I'm probably not one to talk. Oo yay I will look at that!
