Swash -- It sounds like you've been through a lot-- a hip replacement, wow! That's a big undertaking, but hopefully you will be well soon. So sorry about the kidney stones! Here is wishing you a great 2013!! Happy Holidays!!

Yes, I've been quite the stranger. I have had a poor year or two. Lots of correctional surgeries that have not all gone as well as hoped. I am currently at home in recovery mode from a complete left hip replacement (metal parts for the ball and joint portion). Quite painful, but if it will allow me to walk pain free, worth it!
I did two weddings just before the surgery, the "good one" and this one. I tried to talk my relatives out of doing this wedding, should have tried harder. All during this wedding, my kidney stones were giving me heck and the bathroom loomed as my "best friend". I've also passed all three stones now and feel better for that as well. I'd always heard that passing kidney stones was painful, but for me, not as painful as my hips had been (are still). I passed the last stone last week while off in "la-la land" of the pain pills. Much better now. See ya!

Hi Renee!
How's it going? I'm OK I guess. I'm back working with the big Lazy "B" (Boeing), but this time I've recreated myself into a strictly project guy (instead of a computer fix it and computer project guy), I'm working on a new (version) aircraft for the Navy. We are testing the P-8A (737). We have a huge metal frame (called a reaction structure) with lots of hydrualics that will attach to the aircraft to pull and tug on it so we can measure the stress (there are thousands of measuring stamps all over the plane to pick up bends and other measures of stress), very cool. We don't get to stress to the max (pull it's wings off), but still, a very cool job.
I got a new camera, Canon 1Ds mark II. Very nice. The images are soooo huge, it is very slow going to edit them (average jpg file size 10 MB).
So, how are you all doing? Looks like you've gotten a bunch of snow! Lovely photos. I'm less than thrilled with snow as I have to commute through it (about 40 miles of near hell).
Well, have a wonderful DAy!!! Rob the Swash

Hey Renee,
You've got a very nice gallery here! I see we almost had the same path what matters cameras... I've been using the F 828 instead of your F 717, and i recently bought the Nikon D80... Next monday i'll finally be able to use it when my lens arrives
Greetings from Belgium!

Hi Renee!
Thanks for the FANTASTIC comment and on Fancy Duck!!! (You just can't go wrong with a beautiful subject!)
How's life? I'm still unemployed, but it seems like a change is just around the corner, too bad, I'm sort of getting used to not working (took long enough!). Chasing birds is so much funner - but I want more, new camera gear! We DID pay off the house last month, that felt very good and releaves the budget quite a bit. We owe nobody nothin'. Living on love and companionship. Took Jenny on one of my birding trips, she was a bit nervous of the scary road I took to cross the mountains, but always a trooper! Lots of beautiful waterfalls and I did get two of the birds that were "on my list" for that trip! Well...
Have a great DAy!!! Rob the Swash

Hi Renee!
How's it going? Today's my birthday - very old.
Thanks for the great comment and on my Northern Shoveller!!! I'm not sure, but I think it's their eyes that often make them look surprised, shows up in a lot of their photos! I like these guys, colorful wings and head AND a bigger beak than I have!!!!

Hi Renee!
Happy Valentine's DAy!
Thanks for the nice comment on my warbler shot, it was an unusually cooperative bird! Stayed around for two photo sessions - the second session turned out better as I'd uploaded the first set, did some editing and learned from my mistakes.

Hi Renee!
Thanks for the GREAT comments! I'd hoped the Winter Abstract series would gather more interest, but .... (I really liked the tiny ice cubes...)
As for the Scoter coming at me, a bit of luck there, good thing it wasn't moving too fast as this was digiscoped and changing focus in that method is NOT fast. Amazing colors in it's bill!

Hi Renee!
I'm hanging in. Going to my weekly Project Management class (sessions are not often enough - going to take 9 months to complete at this pace....) I am ready to either go back to work or retire (providing the lottery comes in...), tired of job hunting. I did license another picture! One of my better Cedar Waxwings. I didn't charge as much as I normally would as the project was coming out of the young ladies personal funds, rather than having a institutional type budget to draw from. She seems happy, I'm glad - one more for the photo resume!
How are you? Have a nice xmas? I see you are posting pictures again, good for you! I like seeing your work.
Have a great DAy!!! Rob the Swashhhhh

Hi Renee!
Thanks for the nice notes. Little Tree Frog is still a fav and you're right, it would make a different, but nice xmas card! (It's got great seasonal colors)
As for me, unemployment and the nearly constant rain have kept me a bit down, but I'll try not to dwell on it. Zoe, our oldest cat died, also sad news. More heath issues....right shoulder now. Somedays, it just doesn't pay to get out of bed. Bad news/Good news - the home training I've been working on for Project Management turns out to be worthless, but I've signed up for Community College courses on the same subject and THAT will be worth something, provided I can pass the darn CAPM test at the end (in March). Hope that turns into a new career direction and employment! (If not, get ready for MORE depression and what not.) Oh well, business chores need doing, unemployment won't pay me without SOME efforts on my part. Take care and have a great DAy!!! Rob the Swash
