# About me
Hi I am Enc86(Shawn) a 30 year old scale miniature enthusiast. I love building, kitbashing, scratch building and painting scale models. I have been building/painting different subjects for about five years now. I love to think up and create crazy scale model that are rarely "realistic" or "historically accurate" but I have more fun that way. Little rules, tons of time and loads of plastic and paint go into my work. I tend to bounce around subjects but my favorites are tanks/military vehicles, sci-fi, mecha and post-apocalyptic, and I tend to sometimes mash them altogether. My preferred scale to work in is 1/35 but I tend to build anything I can get my grubby hands on. I try my best and over the course of the last few years have improved abilityβs. I have alot of fun with my hobby and as you probably can see, don't take myself too seriously.I live in a peaceful, very rural small town in the tiny state of Vermont in the USA. i live in the "north east kingdom" region and is about as "picturesque woodland" as you can get. When I am not building scale models I am hanging out with my wife, our two daughters, dogs, cat ,rabbits and chickens. I am a stay at home dad and home maker by day and by nights turn into some sort of scale modeling madman. I take inspiration mostly from movies and video games as well as many of my wildly awesome fellow deviants.

Also there's hand made cake and ice cream from down the street.Β Those folks make some mighty fine cake indeed. Yum!

Hey, can you maybe ask around if anybody knows what happened to enc86 / Shawn? He went absent on this site very abruptly almost five years ago and nobody has heard of him since. Many people that knew him are quite worried.

I mean, it looks like he had a kid, and in case you don't know about children, they take up like, at the very least, 80% of your free time. He probably doesn't have enough time to come around here anymore. I mean, I basically went radio silent for a decade after I graduated college and had to start working, and that was just due to the amount of time that having a job takes out of your life; I can't even imagine how much time you lose if you have to tend to an infant. Maybe enc86 will come back around once the kid's old enough to manage itself most of the time, but a five year old still needs a lot of attention. Give him a couple of years.Β

Of course I understand that, but it just seemed odd that he didn't even come here to comment on things anymore. He also mentioned still wanting to work on projects, and considering he had just updated his profile not too long ago, I just got a feeling like something is not quite right about this. It's not like it slowly trundeled out with less and less activity, but its a pretty hard cut, if you look at his activity. And yes, even though four / five year old children still need a lot of attention, completely abandoning your largest hobby (or so it seems at least) from one day to the other for years is out of the ordinary.
I'm just worried about him, and I am also worried about all the people still wishing him a happy birthday every year besides this being pretty much a dead account by now.

Anyone know what happened to Shawn? He seemed like he loved the model making community on here and was pulling in a lot of watchers and views, so it seems odd that he'd suddenly go inactive on here.Β

Good question. I believe being a new Dad definitely took priority understandably over the time needed to assemble and paint these very cool miniatures. I imagine he may return in the future though now and then.
