Howdy! I've been trying to get/request those two photos into the Featured folder...how did you manage to do it?

Hiya. I went to the picture and clicked on the right where it says "submit to a group" just the same way you would do one of your own. I'm not sure it's the right way because Art managed to do it differently. I hadn't seen that or read the message before going to the picture so I guess it got done twice. Oops.

You're very welcome. My friend is the one that directed me to you since I'd like to try night photography. My attempts thus far haven't given me the results that I'd hoped for. I have to say that everything I found in your gallery is very impressive and I'm looking forward to seeing more.

There are a few OOBs around once you start looking huh? I just want some time to make more myself but life seems sooo crazy right now.
Your gallery is amazing. I applaud your talent and hope to have a better look when I can.

I definitely have to agree with life being crazy! I actually set out to find a particular OOB that had water flowing from a picture on the wall, into a tv, out of the tv and into a bucket with the background being a living room. It is spectacular but I couldn't find it. I did find a lot of nice ones in the process.
Thanks for the compliment on my gallery. I do take my share of bad shots but overall I'm please with the progress I've been making. My camera was a gift a couple of years ago and was my first step into photography. It took me almost a year before I got software to process things and I've really started loving the manipulation part. I think the most important part of my journey has been sharing with others, asking questions and accepting advice. Then I experiment until I get what I like. I think you've got a good eye and will find your happy place fairly soon.

That OOB sounds amazing! I guess the owner could have pulled it out of DA
I've taken photos since age 11 (and have just turned 56 now) but only got my DSLR 18 months ago. It's been a huge learning curve, but I love learning. DA is the *best* place to learn I think; even if it's only looking at other photos and seeing what's possible. Thank you for saying I have a good eye

That OOB was amazing and the first one I saw. I checked through my favorites but I can't find it so I'm sure it was either deleted or put in storage.
I understand now why you have such a good eye. That's a long time to have been looking through a lens. I had a lot of trouble at first with the difference between what I see with my eyes and what the camera sees. I still have trouble framing things sometimes. I have to agree that I wouldn't have learned, or been motivated to learn, all the things that I have if it wasn't for everyone I met on DA. It's been wonderful.

Yes it is a long time to have been taking photos LOL My Grandad was a wonderful artist - camera and oils - so perhaps I also inherited his 'eye' as well as having been brought up seeing his work.
I tell my husband when he takes photo to see the viewfinder as a picture frame and imagine the view on the wall in that frame. He's not bad, though he lacks confidence and my youngest son . Strangely, my other son has no interest at all.

Funny how these things can run in families. I know my mom had a camera when I was young but I don't remember her using it much or seeing what she did. Her dad apparently did movies wayyy back when. He was an older parent and passed away when she was twelve so that makes it 50 years ago at least that he did that. I think she said that she has the movies but no way to play them. My oldest son dreams of the day that he'll be able to afford a DSLR but my youngest has no interest. He does like to critique what I take and his opinion usually follows the concensus.

Wow, how interesting! I guess those old movies would be Cine 8 or something? I believe there are places that can convert them for you but it's very expensive.
It's great to have someone to give opinions. My youngest is good at that too. The other son is all intelligence and no art LOL

I told her I was sure someone could convert them but she doesn't feel it's worth the time, effort or money. She only remembers him taking home movies and says that no one will know who's in them in another generation so there's not much point. So far I can't convince her to do it or let me do it.
It is great to have someone take an interest and give opinions.

I can understand both opinions on converting the movies. It's a hard decision, I do understand.

I can see her point too but I guess I'm still curious about what he did. I never knew him so I'm curious about whether he's on them too and I wonder if that's part of why she doesn't want to convert them. It's got to be painful when your dad passes away when you're 15 and I'm sure it would be emotional to watch these even if he's not in them.
