I am a Brooklyn, NYC native, but I dream of Middle-Earth. I have a B.A. in history, my greatest passion, although I am also a devotee to literature (of almost any kind) and writing. Hello!
Thank you for your interest in my cosplays. I’m so glad you found them inspiring. However, I have to admit, I don’t know a ton about Ranger costumes. Usually, I cosplay Tolkien Elves and therefore, I only have one Ranger costume. I will try my best to give you some info, although I don’t know how helpful it will be. I guess the best advice I can give is to follow your own imagination when it comes to compiling a costume. That’s what I usually do, haha.
Anyway, when I made my Ranger costume, I tried to use a lot of layers. I always figured that Rangers would probably wear all the clothes they had, picking up odd pieces here and there. So try to add a few layers (they don’t have to be matching, in fact its better if they aren’t!) to give your outfit some interesting texture.
Secondly, I would recommend trying to use clothing that looks a little more worn, or if it’s new, you could try weathering/aging it. I don’t think a Ranger would wear something brand new and shiny. And even if they did, it would probably get dirty fast. For example, for my Ranger cosplay, I took a pair of old leggings I had and used a pumice stone (or you could try sand paper) to make the material look worn, and I also splattered some pant on them to give them a faux muddy effect.
Finally, I know you may be tempted to add a bunch of gadgets and daggers and pouches to your belt, but I find traveling light is better. A Ranger wouldn’t want to carry around a bunch of heavy stuff and neither will you if you are wearing your costume all day to a Faire or convention. A few simple pieces attached to your belt looks much neater and authentic, in my mind.
Well, that’s about all I can think of right now. I apologize if this info isn’t helpful. Like I said, I don’t have much experience with cosplaying Rangesr. I wish I could give you more tip, but I really do hope you find these few helpful. Good luck with your cosplay!

I totally appreciate your ideas. Just as soon as I figure out how to draw worn, I'll get back to you, lol. And I'm doing research on belts and what not. It's very confusing. Right now, when I draw her, I forget to add the quiver:
