When i want to submit a story, does that go into journal, or the new deviation thingy-bobber, or does it not really matter?

Oh and how do you use the emoticons!!!!! does the link that appears when you drag it magically turn into the icon, or is there some kind of trick? 0.o, cause ive tried clicking it, double clicking it, and dragging it. and i dont know if I'm doing something wrong or i'm just a noob, being...well a noob...o.0
