Well, I'm not sure if I've told you about it yet. It's not the Ditzy Derpy one, at least. Didn't really know where I wanted to take that one.

The new one is called Tastes Like Heresy and stars a unicorn mare named Amber Spice. This takes place in an alternate universe where the three pony tribes went their separate ways instead of all staking out the same land for Hearth's Warming, and thus never got together.

Anyhow, the story is Amber Spice, Royal Chef to his highness King Lanthanum, recounting in her journal the events leading up to her banishment from unicornia into the Great Pegasopian Desert.

I like how it's coming so far, and I know the different points I want to hit. It's slow-going work, though. Hopefully I'll finish it by the end of October and then move on to other projects again before revisiting that AU to tell how Amber Spice makes her way back from her banishment.

Well, I like how it's coming along, and CardsLafter said it was promising when I showed him what I had so far. He also said that the protagonist seemed fiercely influenced by Rarity, but was distinguished enough from her be clearly her own character. He'd also said that the intro was good enough to grab his attention, especially considering he doesn't normally go for this kind of story.

Still, I'm only 7 pages in so far, and have a ways to go before I cover all of the plot points I want to hit.

Since it's in journal format, there's a good bit of jumping and skipping through the timeline, and most of the writing is Amber Spice talking to the journal. There are some excerpts from conversations, but there is far more recounting events and introspection. And world-building. There's a lot of that, since the point behind writing this is to publish the AU that I'd dreamed up. I try to be subtle about it, so a lot of the world-building is done in passing. Some of it is more overt, though.

Overall, I'm happy with it so far and I'm quite interested in getting it written.

On an unrelated note, do you think I should post to Fimfiction that very short "Ditzy, Derped" fic I wrote and put on my DA account?
