I went and saw it in theaters thinking it would be awesome and amazing and turn out to be one of my favorite movies ever because the book is one of my favorites ever, buuuut.....
I left the theater feeling very, very, very much like I'd just been trolled. They took out all my favorite parts, messed up the plot line, messed up my characters, took out my favorite scene where Annabeth and Peter meet and she feeds him ambrosia and the Minotaur fight was all wrong and the way Percy found out that Luke was a traitor was all wrong and they took out the scene in the forest where Luke tries to kill Percy and leaves us with a cliff hanger and the battles were all wrong and they never put in that part about Ares being behind it all and Grover was everything I imagined he Wouldn't be and...and....
ANNABETH! Oh gods did they mess up Annabeth! HER HAIR IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE RED AND SHE'S NOT SUPPOSED TO COME OFF AS SOME RED-HEADED DARK WARRIOR QUEEN!!! SHE'S A FRICKIN BLOND NERD WITH A DAGGER!
And Chiron was nothing like I imagined and Percy was supposed to UNCAP the pen NOT CLICK IT and the three pearls thing was all wrong and I hated the hydra fight scene and they messed up Percy's character BIG TIME and I'm sorry to all those people out there who might think my next complaint is racist, but I never imagined Grover as being colored. And wasn't he supposed to have a goatee? And they took out all of Riordan's humor and ... and.... oh I might be finally running out of complaints. And was that seriously directed by the same person who directed the Harry Potter Movies? That cannot be right! Rick need to go be there on the set and be picky about these things cause that movies was SUCH a HUGE LETDOWN! SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT I almost cried myself to sleep that night. How... how could one of my favorite book's conversion into a movie have gone so terribly wrong?! It wasn't fair!!
I really, really, really hope they fix things in number two. They gave Percy and Annabeth (ESPECIALLY ANNABETH) The wrong actors and the wrong looks. It was like they never bothered to actually read the book they just picked up a rough summary of what happened in the book, turned it into script and slapped it into a movies with the wrong actors, and the wrong scenes, and the wrong quotes and the wrong characters and I was sitting there thinking just what the heck they'd done to my favorite book. It wasn't fair. I could keep going like this for a long time, but I'm going to give you a break and stop now. Sorry if my opinions might have offended you in any way.

I love you. Plain and simple, you are amazing! I agree with you at like 200 percent!!! I had way higher hopes for the movie, haha and everytime anyone mentions Percy Jackson around me, all my friends roll their eyes and plug their ears because I start to rant for hours!! And you know what I was really excited about in the first film? THE ORACLE! That was a super cool part in my head and I couldn't wait to see it in the film! BUT IT WASN'T EVEN THERE! And I love that Rachel Dare was to become the next oracle in later books but she can't now because there was no stinking oracle!!!! And no mention of prophesies either!! That was a huge thing for Annabeth, and the dagger that Luke gave her! And the gods symbol above the kids heads when they were claimed! That was Percy's one wish! Was that the gods claim their children!! GOD!! Every time I think of that movie I just want to slap Rick Riordan and say,"YOU MADE THESE BOOKS FOR YOUR SON, DO YOU KNOW HOW DISSAPOINTED HE PROBABLY IS NOW BECAUSE YOU LET SOME CRACKPOT DIRECTORS RUIN YOUR BOOK?!?!" ..... -breathes- Sorry, hehe, I am on the same level as you in frustration with that movie. I am not even going to see the second.

And yes I totally agree with you there. I was SOO waiting for that moment when Percy is standing in the creek and the trident of Poseidon shimmers to life above his head and then... it didn't happen. Annabeth was definitely the biggest let down, though. I mean she wasn't what I was most excited for, but still, Changing a character's look is one thing but replacing them with a whole different character and giving that character the same name is just wrong.
I stumbled across some interview of the cast from the movie and they were like 'yeah we'd totally like the Percy Jackson Movies to become as famous as the Harry Potter Movies, because it can happen with Chris Columbus as our director and he made the Harry Potter Movies come out super great!' I was laughing my head off at the irony because this interview was before we all saw the movie. And now afterwards, half the Percy Jackson fanbase is deeply insulted and refuses to watch any more movies for the series. I'm just like Yeah Right! This project will NEVER be as famous as the harry potter movies unless you people get your act together and make a good movie! I mean really, if the movie hadn't been based off a book it might have just barely scraped by like Eragon and the Spiderwick Chronicles, but they were based off of books too and they ALL disappointed me something horrible.
The sad part is that it's the same director as the Harry Potter movies. He's lost his touch, he has. It's so sad... it really is.
On a different (but only slightly) note, when I mention he actor Robert Pattinson, what is the first thing that comes to mind for you?

I totally agree with you!! And what's hilarious is that some of the big name actors in the first movie quit their roles because it bombed so badly.
And Robert Pattinson, hmm.... Fake and in over his head. All of his acting roles were obviously to tough for him. He tried his best but it really didn't turn out well. And in the twilight movies he completely failed. In New Moon, there was a scene where he took his shirt of, and he had on sprsy tan abs! It was just sad.

You know, I kinda feel sorry for Pattinson. I mean he's always going to be remembered as being a sparkling, wimp of a fake vampire. I mean he had a chance to be remembered as Cedric, the wizard who was murdered at the end of the Goblet of Fire, which is a lot better than fake sparkly vampire.

AGREED. Totally agreed, have you seen the movie Hotel Transylvania? There is a seen where Dracula catches a glimpse of the twilight movie, and he says, "Really, that's how the humans see us? I need to step up my game." XD

XD They're so addicting! I have to pause in my listening to the audio books on youtube. I got about halfway through the Titan's Curse already. But I'm leaving for a few days and I won't be able to access my dA until Saturday. I'll be having lots of fun though, so don't worry about me.
*sigh* Yeah... I just met little ten year old Nico with his Mythomagic game and all that. He's so cute! He showed up and I had to pause the audiobook so I could hold my breath so I wouldn't squeal. I still started giggling uncontrollably and I was still freaking out about it, but dang it, little Nico is soooo cute! Virai should draw little Nico with his Mythomagic set. That'd be so perfect! I'd just die!
