Here in Portugal we don't celebrate Halloween like you do. We have a similar thing called All Saint's Day when we ask for candy too, but it's on November 1st, during the day, and you don't wear a costume. We just take advantage of Halloween to wear scary costumes for fun, not to ask for candy, because it isn't our original tradition.

To be honest I think the USA is the place for Halloween parties. The UK has tended to copy it more in recent years but even that trend hasn't met the enthusiasm of the States and is perhaps running out of steam now. We simply stayed in and watched the 1978 version of "Halloween" on television
