I've been watching you for a while(this needs to stop sounding creepy) and NO I'm not a freaky stalker who makes voodoo dolls of you
The thing is, I've never been able to get the hang of colouring and I really want some guidance on it. You seem quite good at it, and damn your art looks pretty realistic.
Do you colour digitally or traditionally?

I'm really happy to know that you like my art
About the coloring, you can see that most of them are traditional (colored pencils and water color), I've just bought a wacom and been practicing on it recently.
About the guidance, well actually I just started puting colors into my art since 2015 (before that just fooling around with sketches). I started with an artist I like on DA and tried to imitate the style as similar as possible, just that I could improve my skill and tried to find out my own style later on. It's also important that you should learn shading in art, it really helps to decide which parts of your art need to be dark and which need some highlights, I'm not a pro of this, not even close to be honest but it actually helps a lot.
One more thing, patience! just working hard on what you're doing and you'll see the difference someday

I'm really bad with shading. I do decide on the location of the light source and figure out where every shadow should be, but instead of lying flat, the shadow seems to be more solid instead, especially with shadows caused by locks of hair. The colors always take out the 'realness' for me.
Do you have any tips for blending while using color pencils? I use the typical Stabilo color pencil set.
Oh, and which do you think I should start off with, watercolor or acrylic paints?

for colored pencils you should color with many layers, the first layer should be light and the later layers should be darker, don't push so hard on the first layer. I'm using Macro and Faber Castel
for watercolor I'm not too sure, tobe honest I'm not good at watercolor. I started with acrylic 'cause it's not expensive but then I tried Leningrad and I liked it more
anyways, I think it's easier if you send me one of your colored arts that you like most and then I'll give you some advices
