A random Notice : Yahoo groups is shutting down. Its been along time since I was in loosecannon Sinner's yahoo group. But for those that still have a membership in a working yahoo group save all the pictures otherwise they're just going to go poof by December 14th.

Off hand if they are saved out there Dunno where one would stash them but would be cool if they had a place to live on.

Well hey, sorry for all that's going on. I lost my best friend in January (the latest in a long line of funerals I've had to attend in the last 2 years) and I feel for you.

I don't pretend that my way of dealing is by any means universal, but I know for me it's been hard to find joy in the creative process. Still, I keep plugging away so that when I begin to look forward to this again my skills won't have disappeared.

Thanks anyway for adding my gallery to your watch list. Even positives in "the tickers" help as motivations at this point.

Hey. Did you read all those great comments from Andy from Andy's Dames in the profile here.
I really should get back to drawing again...depression is the ultimate mind killer.
I do draw sometimes just don't publish much or at all...I think I see light at the end of the tunnel though and looking forward to working with you in the future...mum's the word though..good thing no-one reads these things.

Really, dude - you should! I suspect that the main reason you think you suck is that what comes out doesn't match what you originally conceived. The ol' "You saw the sausage being made" Syndrome. The rest of us lesser mortals are, in turn, left slackjawed and drooling at the magnificence of your work! Honest to Gawd - especially your 3D work - so realistic, natural. "Myra Says Pleeeeese"? That is, hands down, the definite Myra as far as I'm concerned. Though the Myra in "Krush" is close behind. And that's just Myra.

Sweet buttered Christ on toast, dude - I wish you had HALF the self-confidence in yourself as we have appreciation for your work!

I *love* your work.

You are a genuine inspiration..and make me want to put the pencil down and give up at the same time.

Been stalking your work on DA and elsewhere for *years*.

I love your art...your girls..your stories!

Thank you for the comment!

Oh, thanks- I'm glad you enjoy my work!  I know what you mean about feeling inspired and wanting to quit simultaneously.  After all, there's lots of stuff I see in your work that I wish I could do.  But I think that's just how this whole "art" thing goes.  And it's probably what separates the quitters from those of us who keep grinding along.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SinnerDom In reply to AndysDames [2016-11-27 20:10:00 +0000 UTC]

I'm pretty much in the "quitters" column right now.
One pic posted in all of the last year..sheesh..
DA really annoyed me with some policy changes  but I also had some severe life altering changes over the last few years too...so its almost like I'm teaching myself to draw all over again and I just don't seem to have the passion I used to  have.
The longer I leave it the harder it gets.

AndysDames In reply to SinnerDom [2016-11-27 20:24:40 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I can totally see that.  We all go through periods that turn us upside-down and force us to re-evaluate everything.  It's no fun.  I almost didn't make it past 2008, literally, and didn't draw hardly anything in the five years before that.  But you can't let outside influences keep you from working, you've come too far.  I don't have the same drive that I did when I was in my 20s, either.  So, I just have to find new reasons to get excited about it.  It's hard.  This week it's been extra hard, and I can't even seem to draw faces that don't looks misshapen.  So what?  If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.  You just have to get off your butt and draw.  Come on, man, I want to see some new art!

SinnerDom In reply to AndysDames [2016-11-27 21:06:22 +0000 UTC]

Wow...thanks for the kick in the butt..
I needed that.

Some of my online buddies have said similar things but it just hasn't sunk in. I've let myself go in more than one way...just given up really. Part of it being a belief that...I just can't make any money at this no matter how hard I try. However lately I've seen examples of other artists (yourself included of course) who through sheer hard work turn the tables on the internet rip off syndrome and the "everything is free on the net" attitude which made it seem so pointless to be an artist. Except to have fun of course, which is why so many of my images were never finished properly.

Selling  hardcopy and Patreon seem to be a big part of that and of course both those mediums require *hard work* and a business plan. While I've got nothing against the former I've just not applied it to my art in the recent past. I rarely finish my projects since "why bother" syndrome kicks in.  Now, however, I see other artists who have hardcopy...home made games...patreon sites...actually making money because their fans support them I'm starting to realize that Dammit...I was *wrong*.
Hard work and a business plan can pay off!.

Wether its pdf's, hardcopy books, patreon, games or whatever there has to be a way to monetize the passion. I just have to figure out which one works for me and then really drive it.

First I have to get my style back and a system...and basically just *draw*...get some stuff out there and get my watchers watching again.

Thanks...I needed that.

AndysDames In reply to SinnerDom [2016-11-27 22:58:25 +0000 UTC]

I agree that the "everything is free" attitude is discouraging.  Nothing pisses me off faster than bratty kids who think they have a right to free erotic art, and try to lump art in with "information" that should be "free to everyone."  Art is not information (and don't give me some BS about the fact that it's encoded as binary data), it is a commodity, and always has been- the "old masters" worked to feed themselves.  The minute my "Dames" can no longer entertain an audience to put a roof over my head, they're gone, by necessity.  The good news is that there's a very large audience out there that likes to support things they enjoy, they just don't really say much.  They tend to speak with their money more than by whining on the internet.  The whiners are, in my opinion, a vocal minority.  Gotta keep that in mind, and ignore the spoiled little farts.  Some of them may grow up eventually into decent people.

The key is to provide value.  Value, value, value.  Not "cheap deals" with a department-store-sale mentality, but just stuff that people can enjoy.  You have to produce things, and produce them regularly, to hold up your end of the deal first.  If you can put the goods on the table, and do it regularly so that people know you won't disappear, some folks will step forward to support what you create.  Many of them are shy or quiet, and won't say a word.  You won't know they're there until you produce the goods first.

All this, of course, takes time.  That's the problem, we quit too early.  I would suggest getting some new work posted here, to re-establish yourself, then set up with Patreon.  That's something that can start off small, and get you in the mindset of producing something of value every week.  Then once you get in some kind of groove, you can think about those bigger projects.  I've got a graphic novel brewing in the background, but I had to get the rest of this moving first.  Don't start with those huge projects like games and books that need a ton of work done before you can even start getting anything from it.  My two cents.

Thanks for the solid advice and sensible commentary.

Ive often wanted to ask someone like yourself who is on patreon and putting out product..."is it worth it? ..does it pay off?..what are the strategies?"

You pretty much answered all my questions as well as providing the encouragement I needed to drag me out of my "why bother" slump.

First project is to just  finish some of the dozens of things I've started in the last year and get them up here on DA.

Probably be a year or more before I try anything more than just getting my watchers back

Cheers and thanks again

ah yes...was just checking it out...and deja vu all over again.
One has to *register* to vote..
Of course...which is why this one is never put in the pool of qualifiers...which puts the whole thing around the same level of...y'know...Rolling Stone saying voters had declared Gene Simmons as "Bass player of the year" while guys like John Entwhistle were still alive.
He he he...
I had this 70's flashback..just because the stories I'm writing nowadays harken back to that era and I'm reminded of my outrage...

I agree...several of the noninees in the "story" cat are story websites (no single story is mentioned) other are just writers again with no story
When I inquired I got no reply....
Several of the nominees through out are also sponsers of the site

I was going to say *great* then I took a look at your page and saw that my version of "great" is a bit different than yours *grin*.

The twins seem to have really hit the big time.  Congratulations on your concept and creativity really catching fire.

You deserve it. Some of your stories and scenes are among the most intense and creative I've ever read.

Me - just the fact I'm drawing and writing and sober *most* of the time is great!.

The fact I'm not finishing the pics or putting them online is kinda irrelevant.

I'll get around to it..maybe..someday.

I'll see what I can do.

I am still working on the original one we talked about but

I have had a lot of rl probs lately not least of which are money and my main computer being down.

I was seriously considering ditching my internet connection altogether along with the insurance on my car next month because I'm so broke.

Well, I got back again, and was delighted to see those recent posts. Damn, you are so creative. Just love it.

By the way, got around to posting "Stabled" on my bandmachart gallery site. You know, the only ponygirl story I've ever sent you. I made a couple more very tiny edits to it before posting. Also included a slew of additional drawings. If you're interested.

And I sent you a Note, too. Concerning the story you alluded to in one of your image descriptions.

Always leave your gallery on a major up. Same this time!

Hope to hear from you soon, my friend!
