I'm still working on mine, especially gestures, trying to get into that "don't IMMEDIATELY start dropping heavy details on something dummy!". I'm definitely not loose enough at my sketch stage, pfft.

even now I am having that problem while coloring a piece right now, I also cant decide if i want to make an exact copy when i do portrait and color practices or keep it simple

Do what's most fun for you! If you end up not liking it you can always try another drawing and tweak the parts you dislike about the first one.
