I will be cosplaying . I was one of the Sarias last year (the one who had a playable OoT and was with Malon and Talon). I'm not sure yet if I'm going to re-make my Saria cosplay so it's more accurate than last year, or go as Koume and Kotake with my sister. It's hard to decide, they're both so tempting

Ohh, I don't see Koume & Kotake very often! But you're right, both are really awesome choices. I might bring OoT Link (since Skyward's chainmail was cold, and made too much jingling noise, so I sat as still as possible the entire event, haha). My friend wants to bring Groose again though.

Where were you sitting last time? I did see a Saria, I'm just curious if it was you or not, because I didn't see two that night. Are you able to play your ocarina? I been practicing mine, so I'm hoping to play at AN this year.

OoT Link is my favourite! And I remember that Groose, his cosplay was awesome, he had the attitude down and everything

I was this Saria [link] with Malon and Talon. We were sitting up in the balconies, and when we were facing the stage we were on the right side of the auditorium.

I've decided I'm going to re-make Saria after all. I didn't give myself enough time last year, so I'm starting nice and early; I know I can make a better Saria cosplay if I tried. The only parts of my old cosplay I liked were my sweater, headband, and belt, so I'll be re-using them, but this year I'll actually be sewing my tunic (instead of wearing a tank top and shorts ), buying a much better wig, and buying/making new boots. Possibly getting new ears, though the ones I want are a bit expensive.

I can indeed play my ocarina . I have a small ocarina collection at the moment, and I'm hoping to grow it (there are tons of ocs on my wish list ). I'm not the most amazing ocarinist (yet ), but I'm not bad either. I'm pretty good at playing songs by ear, and I can play more than just video game tunes. I did see you guys! Though only from farther away, while you guys were walking up before the show started. We were sitting on the Mezzanine, front row, center.

For a rushed cosplay, Saria still turned out really well! I'm looking forward to your remake version, I love that character. I also think the sweater looks great, and I understand the pain about the ears. I'm trying to make my own this year, with liquid latex. At least that way, I'll have the mold, and it'll be shaped to my ears & face.

Aww, I love music. I can play the flute, clarinet, ocarina and most smaller woodwind instruments. I only have one ocarina, but I'm learning this year how to use it. It's a replica however, so my range is brutally small (only 7 holes). I usually have to transpose songs to be able to play. :/ I'm sure you sound awesome though, I'm up to bring mine if you bring yours again this year!

Actually, the range of most seven hole ocarinas is only a little bit less than 12 holes, though 12 holes are easier to play IMO. May I ask which ocarina you have? There are several nice 12 hole OoT replicas on the market if you're interested, and the fingering system is easy to learn. There's also a couple double-chambered OoT replicas now if you're after greater range.

I'm definitely bringing at least one ocarina to the symphony. My OoT for sure, and maybe my double ocarina and my little rupee ocarina

I would love more instruments, but money is a constant issue for me, so it took me several years before I got my first. I know playing I have to cover several half-holes to get sharps or flats, but it's not so bad. I have to pitch my blowing too, if I want to try to get super low notes that I normally couldn't do. XD

I'm excited though, I don't know many musicians! So it'll be a lot of fun meeting up with you at the Symphony. You'll have to show me some cool tricks!

Ah, the Songbird 7 hole OoT, I hear those are pretty nice (I have their 12 hole one) . They use a somewhat unusual variation on the standard English pendant fingering system for your OoT. Half holing is a bit fiddly to do sometimes. Accidentals are easier with 12 holes, you don't need to half hole them. Though I hear you about watching your spending, I had to wait years for my first ocarina as well.

It will be nice to meet up. I'd love to get a look at that OoT and see how it sounds . There will hopefully be another ocarinist from TON going to the symphony as well, she and I were hoping to meet eachother there, and she seems like a really nice person

It gets a lot easier with practice, I don't mind it one bit anymore, and it really gives me leeway to add accents to my music. If I got a proper one, I'd probably go with the dual chamber, it sounds like a lot of fun to learn.

I attended Anime North back in 2009, but it was the only time I went to a convention. The problem is that very few people I know are really into anime, and I don't wanna go alone. I also like to go to the Carassauga festival in Mississauga with my dad, and it's the same weekend.

Sorry it's been a while since I replied (you probably forgot all about this ); I was kind procrastinating for a while because I wasn't in the mood to sew for the longest time . The new tunic/romper is nearly finished, just gotta add the belt loops and hem the legs! All that's left after that is to finish painting the belt buckle gold, and style the new wig a little bit (the bangs are too long). I managed to find a pretty good pair of green boots on Etsy, and I even got myself some blue contact lenses while on a trip to Ottawa .

My friend from The Ocarina Network who I mentioned before is going to the symphony after all, and she'll be doing a casual cosplay of Malon. It's her first time cosplaying, so I thought I'd welcome her to the world of cosplay by sculpting her Bowser brooch for her (it's in my gallery, if you're curious ).

Anyway, 8 days until the symphony! Will you still be cosplaying as OoT Link? It'll be cool to see it!

It's alright! I've been crazy busy too this Summer, but I've been thinking about all my Symphony friends, so I'm glad to hear from you!

That's awesome that all your stuff is coming together too~ I wish I could say the same, but all my cosplays took a hiatus for the summer because of classes and other priorities. So I'm pretty sure I won't have OoT Link done on time for the Symphony, but I will bring either Skyward Link again, or see if I can finish my feudal Japan Link on time. Both are really comfortable to wear for the show.

I'm still going to bring my Ocarina, and hope people don't throw pumpkins at me if I'm out of practice. XD

It'd be so cool to see that Feudal Link come to life. The original drawing was so cool!

Ehh, I best most people there won't even know the correct way to hold an ocarina (it's amazing how many LoZ cosplayers I've seen holding their ocs wrong ), much less how to play one (especially not one with the unusual modified crossfingering pattern of the 7 hole OoT), so I think you'll be alright . I just hope the Triforce of Courage will be with me enough that I'll be able to play before the show

I'm worried about being nervous too playing in front of people, normally I just play alone at home, haha. I haven't practiced at all, so I might just come chill with you guys, and play a couple single tunes. Where would you like to meet up? I can wait at the bottom of the stairs in the front foyer (that leads to the balcony area), and we can pick a comfy spot once we're all together?
