Jesus Christ... I worry about him and his mom.... Damn it... I forgot you weren't in my art class... Well... Here's the backstory:

*Keep in mind that this is in the last 6 weeks of school, a little after James stopped coming to tutoring, quit his dA account (after some digging around, I'm pretty sure that something(or someone) tipped MsBell off and she ordered his teacher to keep him in advisory. As for the dA account, she was so pissed that we called him 'James' and talked about his mom 'the art teacher' on his profile. She pulled me into the hallway once and yelled at me for letting (you, I and whoever else did it) endanger him by giving his name and his mom's occupation away), and I'm still MsBell's teacher pet.*

Anyway...

You remember that mural for the fine arts hall that us 8th graders worked on? Yeah, the one that looks like shit now, if MsBell even put it up, that is... Well, anyway, whoever got put on the 'Mural Committee' was all assigned parts to work on. My part was a trumpet, Jenna's was a paintbrush, and so on.

Well, The other idiots in the group pretty much ignored the gridded plan and completely painted over where my part was. Jenna had two parts and was absent one day, and told me that she wanted me to do the paintbrush for her. So I did. And it kicked some major ass.

Then MsBell came out and kinda stared at it before saying that there was too much brown in the painting. (The paintbrush was the only thing that was brown. ('Cause that's what color most paintbrushes are. You see, MsBell had this abstract, neon, super barf-y rainbow of color idea for the mural.)) So she told me to put some color into it, so I did. I highlighted it with some really awesome turquoise and it looked great. Everyone would tell me that it looked awesome.

Then one of the students brought MsBell out to look since we were just about done. MsBell glared at for about 5 minutes, the whole place was silent (we were outside in that little area that one of the art doors leads to). Then, MsBell said the worst thing she could've possibly said:
"I hate it. I hate every bit of it. Especially that paintbrush. Leah! I thought I told you to get rid of all that disgusting brown color!
I couldn't believe it. But wait, she wasn't done:
"And where the heck is your part! Where's the trumpet?!? You were supposed to do the trumpet, not steal someone else's part!"
By now, she's fuming, and we're doing everything we can to calm her down. It's becoming extremely tense, especially since the brunt of her anger is at me...
Jenna: "MsBell, I told Leah that I wanted her to do the paintbrush since I wasn't doing a very good job."
Maddie: "Yeah, and besides, a lot of people painted over Leah's trumpet!"
MsBell: "I don't care! I hate it! Somebody ,i>else, change it now! Leah! You're off the committe! And anyone else who argues is also going to be kicked OFF THE COMMITTEE!!! I will replace you with someone else! And you will have to do the alternative project in class!!!"

We were just speechless... MsBell stalked back inside, and we kinda looked at each other, unsure of what to do next. I mean, if she's gonna yell at us because she doesn't like it, she could at least have the nerve to stay outside and tell us what she'd like to see different. But where was she that whole time, from start to near finish of the mural? Doing God-knows-what inside that damned classroom.

Y'know what? That was the first day that I'd cried in a long time. And it hit me... Hard. I couldn't stop, and I was too stubborn to let MsBell see what she'd done to me... I had art 2nd period, and I cried all. Day. Long. Even one the bus, when everybody made fun of me, since I used to be the 'tough guy' on the bus. It kept on going, on and off I'd cry up until I fell asleep. And even the next day, it was so hard to go to school. To go see MsBell.

My mom called MsBell 4 times, to confront her about all this, and got denied one way or another.

When I walked into class that day, I went outside to take a picture of the paintbursh, before MsBell did anything to it. But it had already been painted over in a transparent, paste-y looking white.

To have someone I looked up to for artistic guidance do that to me: To say that she hated what I had done, even though everyone else like it, to go as far as kicking me out of the mural project...

I hated it. It tore me up, and i just about stopped drawing, stopped painting, stopped doing art. I didn't start up again until later in the summer. And even then it's been tentative, and slow.

I'm still self-conscious about my art. I don't like anyone seeing it, especially not my teachers.

What MsBell did... I just don't think I can forgive her for that. And I worry about James. You remember how much he talked about hating his art, and wanting to quit. How glum he seemed... I'm not saying that it's MsBell's doing... I just worry that he doesn't get the help and support that he needs from his parents when he goes through those phases...

Anyway... Story of a lifetime... Yeah?

anyway, a bunch of sh*t went down in the last six weeks....it's wierd, because i don't see her acting like that. like, ever. but she can get mad sometimes...i don't know. you should've told me this before, lol.
